Putting McCabe over to get us back in the game. Horrible dumb decision there by Cooper..

Well he did save our skin against the Argies on the GC, but lets just ignore that shall we.

And Kiap posted those stats the other day that that he holds his own in win/loss ratio's. Hux's point is about playing smart, my point was that the team plays smart together. You can have a playmaker like Cooper or Larkham or Lynagh but they need the team around them to be playing smart with them.

Definitely agree. The team is playing very dumb rugby at the moment.

It's easy for the playmaker, or any other player, to make smart decisions on the fly when they have a solid gameplan that everyone explicitly understands - because then every player knows what's expected in most situations. Like Laurie Fisher said in the podcast a while back - you don't want players thinking on the field, that all has to be done before you get out there.

I don't see that in the Wallaby play at the moment - players getting isolated way too easily, etc, I think because team-mates don't instantly know what each person's role is.

The chip kicks and grubbers really highlight this for me.

which has been the problem since day 1, the coach has given them far too much rope.

And yet...when I think of a team that had a solid gameplan thoroughly understood by all, I think back to the Robbie Deans-coached Crusaders. Their counter-attacking ability was all about each player knowing his position and role in very fluid turnover situations. What?

Different player group? One a bunch of kiwis and the other primarily Australian?

Apparently for this team it is. First time we have seen runners hitting the gaps all year.

Quade doesn't deserve to be likened to Larkham just because he made a good pass (imagine that from your 800,000 a year fly-half!) in a team where they are rare. It has occurred to me that you exhibit symptoms of being prone to over-valuation of Quade's positive contributions and a failure to appropriately weight his shortcomings in your analysis.

No need for personal attacks.
You're new-ish, so no points this time.
Keep it civil.

No one is saying Quade is like Larkham.. You have a lot of feelings.

and the other 79 minutes and 55 seconds?
He was lucky he didn't get hooked before that, in any event the skill level in that pass was not high, most 10's would have done exactly that.
Not everything wrong with the Wobs is Deans and everything good is QC (Quade Cooper)............and vice versa.
