Hurricanes vs Waratahs Super Rugby R7 2025 - Friday 28 March

Yeah, but the likelihood of injury by being shot by a sniper is also substantially higher. I'm more impressed by their miraculous recovery times.

The games faster and no where near as many stoppages, so players would be more stuffed.
Rugby, we have so many stop and starts so players have a lot more little breaks through out the game. They’re professional athletes, they can play all seasons

So spreading the rest around is the go. No Kellaway this week (also Reilly, but I assume that's an injury).

I think the backline is: Teddy Wilson, Lawson Creighton, Darby Lancaster, Joey Walton (c), Joseph-Aukuso Sua'ali'i, Archie Saunders, Max Jorgensen

So Kellaway being rested this week.

Yeah, was a bit confused because the roar posted it with Kellaway at fullback and no Jorgo while also saying Kellaway was rested

Good to see Foketi coming back via the bench. Sinclair goes from captain to left out completely.

In addition to Sua'ali'i’s inclusion, there are five other changes to the starting XV:

  • Hooker Julian Heaven has been named for his first season start for Mahe Vailanu, who broke his arm in last week’s win against the ACT Brumbies. Heaven steps in after earning significant minutes off the bench last week.
  • Miles Amatosero returns from a back injury to start as right lock, with Ben Grant as left lock in place of Hugh Sinclair, who is not in the squad.
  • Darby Lancaster has been selected on the right wing, pushing Max Jorgensen to fullback. Jorgensen replaces Andrew Kellaway, who is being rested this week.
  • Archie Saunders comes into the starting lineup on the left wing for his NSW Waratahs debut, replacing Triston Reilly, who has a shoulder injury.
  • Inside centre Joey Walton has been named as the 179th NSW Waratahs captain for Sinclair who has also been rested this week.

Significant detail on the changes which is nice.

Awful that Vailanu has broken his arm. We really need Dave Porecki to get fit again soon!

Will be a good test of the 'Tahs scrum with a strong Hurricanes front row against them.

HURRICANES (1-15): Xavier Numia, Asafo Aumua (co-c), Tyrel Lomax, Caleb Delany, Zach Gallagher, Brayden Iose, Du'Plessis Kirifi (co-c), Peter Lakai, Cam Roigard, Riley Hohepa, Kini Naholo, Peter Umaga-Jensen, Bailyn Sullivan, Ngatungane Punivai, Ruben Love

Replacements: Jacob Devery, Pouri Rakete-Stones, Tevita Mafileo, Isaia Walker-Leawere, Brad Shields, Jordi Viljoen, Fatafehi Fineanganofo, Kade Banks

Reilly has to be an injury. The bloke has earnt that jersey with his recent all effort showings. O'Donnell has been the other that slotted in and looked at home. He and the Tahs will be better for the experience.

Saunders is a talent but raw. 6'4 100kg Winger at 21 years old so fingers crossed he can have a decent showing and he's one for the future whos been in the system for what seems like a while.

Not fussed about Sinclair tbh. I know you need the workman glue guys but he's been a bit off the pace the last couple of weeks and DM seemingly isnt afraid to drop blokes atm. Ask Miles who gets a shot back in the starting side after playing for the Tah A side.

What's Porecki's injury? He's been very unavailable for a while now.

Also what's the go on Saunders, I don't know anything about him.

Are 'Tahs favourites for this?

Calf. This will be the second game he's missed. He was a late scratching from the Brumbies game (was named to start on the Wednesday).

Tahs are paying $3.50 and the line is 9.5.

I wouldn't say their favourites. On the road in NZ. Towelled up in their only other away game as well.

Saunders is a big rangy raw thing. Been a touted outside back since his mid teens tbh which is why it feels like he's been around for ages. Plays for Warringah and Tah A/U19s for the last couple of years.

Surprisingly we now have a fair bit of depth in the 2nd row and that may see the end of Sincalir and FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner). Kalapu, Grant, Amotesero and apparently Matt Philip on the way, all big guys and Grant has been a very good pick up so far, probably our best in the row.
