Yep I agree. Waratah Scrum was solid, lineout had issues but I counted 2 lineout errors, not all the Hookers fault. Jumpers have to jump and catch the ball! Hurricanes were very good at the break down. Losing 3 backs early didnt help the Waratahs playing away against a team coming off a weeks break at home.

Same, I'm just finishing watching the 2nd half now, and it seems pretty much my thoughts on the game. Even though Hurricanes were 12 up, it seemed Tahs were in the game, then the flood gates opened and the wheels fell off.

Man it's hard being a Tahs fan.

Yeah, Canes were running and hitting hard! Tahs copped some injuries early and it really took its toll. To me it doesn't look like the Tahs loose fwds are doing enough breakdown work. Leota and Gleeson probably need to spend more time securing the ruck than waiting for the ball in the backline. IMO NSW need to build towards next year.

Just out of interest , that Wilson at 9 for the Tahs, where has he come from. I liked the look of him.

Son of Wallaby captain and flanker David Wilson who fortunately saw the light, left Queensland and moved to Sydney to raise his family.

Older brother Harry played in the centres mostly for the Waratahs for a couple of years before heading overseas to play for the Newport Dragons in Wales.

Chhers BH, was probably mentioned he was David's boy and I was in my own little world and missed it. Breeding comes through often doesn't it, I was always keen on David when he was around. Is my memory right and he played for Easts in Qld, I know I saw his picture or something on a club wall when I lived there, and thought it may of been at Easts!

Yep, Easts Tigers. I think Jeremy Paul was too.

The #1 ground at Easts, Bottomley Park, is now know as David Wilson field

I'm finding this hyperfocus on Tupou beyond odd. It really wasn't a great game for the Tahs and the blowout in the second half wasn't great, but some of the points a view being put forward based on one game are a little unreasonable.

I also don't think that the loss was all down to TT - however I can see where some people are coming from. TT seems to have put a target on his own back after the QLD game, jogging next to the maul (however unfairly it is).

The Hurricanes game was a total team failure. Getting Jorgo and another back sidelined in the first half didn't help, plus the resting of the front-line backs. The forwards just didn't begin to cover the Canes at all and it became a free for all.

It's not about one game - it's a collective observation over the past 2 seasons of SRP (Super Rugby Pacific).

And it isn't just anti-Tahs and anti-McKellar (i.e. me) who are pointing these things out. Half the forum wants to say Thorn burned TT out and he hasn't been the same since. The other half of the forum wants to say TT knew he had an easy pathway leaving the Reds and hasn't been held to high enough standards since then.

As someone who has known TT peripherally and had some insight into the Reds over the last few years, him being lazy and switching off during the offseason was pretty well known. He would rock up to the first few weeks of training in a pretty rough state. But within a fortnight he was back to being the strongest in the gym and usually one of the fittest big blokes. His work ethic was being compared to Payne Haas at the Broncos who despite being the biggest bloke on the paddock was always at the top of the training drills. That mentality seems to have slipped away now.
