Every game in the pool stage is a must win for us at the moment. We need to win all the pool matches and also hope that England are beaten by either France (possible) or Russia (unlikely).

The way we played in Tokyo, beating Russia will be a challenge.

Like a chess match but Semi Kunitani finally scores, converted. FIJ 7 SAF 0 - 1 minute left to oranges.

Outstanding defence from FIJ, holding the SAF attack up over the line, then winning ruck turnover penalty. 2:00 left.

For the life of me, I just cannot see that our new 7s coach has improved our team in any meaningful way. We look as 'second tier' or worse today as we have for years.

Our squad looks all wrong - lacking anything like enough mobility, pace and consistent skills under pressure.

If I was Pulver I'd be very inclined to opt for a radical new beginning as we did so fruitfully with our new women's 7s team and system.

As we are (in the mens' game at least) we appear to be on a road to nowhere expect perpetual national disappointment.

Mind you, this is the ARU at work. We'll likely die waiting.

As the Soap Dodgers do so often, they score after the siren to tie the game up.

That is one of the worst mistakes I've ever seen from a video review. The English player clearly knocked the ball on. I don't know how the ref could have seen it otherwise. Terrible decision and one that has ended up contributing to an English victory that has basically ended our chances of automatic qualification.

Disagree. Performance in Japan, backed up by losing to USA tonight knackered us, Olympics qualification wise.

Worst mistake by video review? No way. That honour must belong to the own try decision in the NRC last year.

Y'know what? It was an advantage to play the last game of the round robin in Pools A and B.

The opposition seeds for the quarters were known. Thus England, by remaining 3 points short of Australia's differential, locked in Canada for their QF.

Having said that, I'd guess the Aussies would prefer Fiji or England over SA or NZ at the pointy end. But it mattered not when they lost to USA.
