How long will Quade get?

BTW, I don't feel comfortable with a judiciary chaired by a Queenslander ruling on a case invoving a Queensland player, if that in fact is the situation here. It could give rise to the prospect of comments suggesting "perceived bias".

What you lose on the merry-go-round you gain on the swing; Digby gets five weeks from South African judiciary Quade gets 0 from Aus

What about the Darkness v the rest conspiracy?

That won't happen until the Rugby Championship.

The way I see the finals panning out is that the Reds will beat the Sharks then lose to the Chiefs and the Crusaders will beat the Bulls then the Stormers.

The Chiefs and Crusaders will play the final and New Zealanders will be feeling pretty happy with themselves. That will all come crashing down when the Wallabies beat the All Blacks in Sydney and Richie McCaw is yellow carded for repeated infringements.

The first yes, the second I can't see A Rolland issuing YC to Sir Richie in game one, but how satisfying will it be for N Owens to do so at Eden Park in Game 2 when we break the Eden Park Jinx and go 2-0 up in the 2012 Bled Series?

You Aussies ARE a positive lot aren't you.

We try and keep your head under the water to drown you and you just keep popping up full of vigor and positivity just like Skippy the fucking Kangaroo.

Quade should get a week. It was high and reckless.

Having said that, watch the Stormers v Rebels game; I lost count how many times the Stormers grabbed a neck or head to bring down a player.

That's the thing for me. The Reds should go into the hearing committe with a long video showing tackles like Elstadt's that were cited but were very similar. Elstadt didn't even get a yellow for a similar tackle.

edit: To clarify, both were definite yellow cards, but by Cooper's citing, SANZAR has said the Cooper should have seen a red card.

I don't think lack of sanction for another player is really grounds for a defence though. Whilst I agree with you completely that more consistency is needed, the judiciary's reaction would likely be that Elstadt should have been cited too, not an agreement that his lack of sanction mitigates Cooper's tackle.

I think the yellow card might work in Cooper's favour to say that it was dealt with on the field and no further action is needed.

Fair Point. Forgot about the Cloak of Invisibility. He wouldn't have been caught in the first instance.

Lets suggest that the tackler was #5 A. Williams (Blues).

It's always hard to spot the infringer with an eye patch on, I don't blame you. Tackle below, no penalty, no citing, no suspension.

I think Cooper's is borderline 1 week, I'd be happy seeing him get off and play next week.

Hey Mr D - I refer you to my previous post. Paul Tully has never ever helped the Reds with a lenient sentence. His record over the many years as a Judicial Officer is clear.

That's my point L41! Bias works both ways and often goes against the person of one's "home" club, state, country, etc. Our rugby club on the GC had a member who was a ref, and whenever he ref'd or ran the line, he erred on the side of the opposing team, which is frustrating when you are the manager of a colts team and trying to keep their minds on the game!!

As I posted a few pages back, high, probably reckless (a bit), YC was enough - if only to mitigate the woeful inconsistency of the whole citing and judicial process.
Just a question for all the anatomists. If the impact was not high, i.e. chest / shoulder - why was Barnes concussed?
I'm not suggesting the degree of effect on the player should dictate punishment, but from a biomechanical viewpoint I find it, at the very least, curious.

Concussed? Wasn't it magic footballer's migraines, not in any way related to head trauma?

Seriously, it seems similar to a hundred incidents each season, and a small proportion of the tacklers involved end up cited. A week would be reasonable part from the randomness of the citing process. But.

Paul Tully is a hanging judge.

How many tackles this high don't get the tackler some time to re-consider their technique from the sidelines?

I don’t get all you guys from other provinces wanting Quade Cooper to be suspended.

Sure, I think he should cop a ban, but think of the possible consequences if he is:

If he is suspended and the reds LOSE this weekend, every rugby forum in the world will be inundated with reds fans saying “we were robbed…”, “If QC (Quade Cooper) had of played we would have won…”, “Yeah but the square root of two wrongs squared is a right…” etc etc. The internet will buckle under this level of bandwidth pressure, online banking and stock markets will fall, kids won’t be able to illegally download songs and will bitch at mums and dads about it, governments everywhere will recalibrate their internet to deal with the extra bandwidth created by such an event leading to greater debt levels unknown in human history and just all manner of terrible things…

If he is suspended and we win… Oh my, think of the gloating that will ensue. The internet will blow up!!!!

All you saying he should sit it out are just not thinking of the future generations. Won’t someone please think of the children???

A few this weekend just for starters. Foley had a swinging arm in the same game, and Elstadt had a beauty that night.

Consistency is not a hallmark of the SANZAR citing process.

GAGR should form it's own judiciary, then every week they can issue consistant suspensions and show SANZAR how it's done. (or maybe realize how tough the job is, and why you take everything on a case by case basis)

Ahhhh but Braveheart you've ignored the "Playing in SA, clear SA bias conspiracy" - it is a concern. All the losses over there by any NZ or OZ team - totally constructed by those demons in SA :D.

This is my thinking too.

Anyhow this is how Quade can escape the suspension. The Chewbacca defense, never fails.
