thats because we all know theres a hoarde of Saffas in Australia, they're like cane toads, growing larger and spreading throughout the country more and more each year, and in regards to NZ RL, Im pretty sure Queensland is where most of New Zealands Rugby League playing people are.....

There are far more new south welshmen living in queensland than there are saffas, or kiwi league fans. What it illustrates among other things is a failure by the waratahs to connect with the nsw public, expat or not.

If you were selling reds jerseys for 50 bucks (further discounted towards the end of the sale) in sydney it would be a different story no?

sidenote: green and blue are often seen as the unofficial colours of New Zealands South Island from my understanding.

Never hear that before and I've lived in Christchurch for 46 years. I could see a connection between the South Is and green as the maori name for it is Te Wai Pounamu, ie the place of greenstone.

my local sports stores dont even stock qld state of origin league jerseys and they have a reds jersey from the maroon days discounted to 40 dollars sitting on the shelf, it depends on the area, it means nothing.

I was wondering why no team had green ther other day.

Was just having this conversation with other rugby followers a few days ago.

Of all the teams that could have gone green, shame it was the highlanders, I really liked their maroon jerseys with the blue and yellow highlights.

I agree.

Since the Reds dont want to play in their traditional colours then I dont see any reason why the Highlanders cant make their predominantely maroon strip become their main strip. That way they can have colours that are different to everyone else but still retain the bits of blue and yellow in there to keep their fans happy. They can utilise a green jersey as their away jersey if they want. Whilst I agree it would be good to have a green team in the comp, as a fan I'd be pretty angry if the saders we're changed from black and red to any other colour so I'd have to say I empathise with the highlander fans on the jersey debate, well those against it which sounds like quite a few.

New South Wales: Sky blue (secondary colours: dark blue and white)
Northern Territory: Black, white, and ochre
Queensland: Maroon (secondary colour: white)
South Australia: Red (secondary colour: blue and gold)
Tasmania: Bottle green (secondary colour: maroon and yellow)
Victoria: Navy blue (secondary colour: white and silver)
Western Australia: Gold (secondary colour: black)

So hypothetically (I know its a long way off something like this happening) but if South Australia (I know, extremely unlikely but imagine it for a minute) get a team and cant use red cause the reds dont wear maroon then they'll have to wear their secondary colours of blue and yellow thus creating another blue team. Or creating another yellow/gold team if the force end up with a yellow/gold & black strip. Hmmmm.

They dont even stock reds jerseys at my local rebel.
