Guys. You won. We accepted and congratulated. Move on.

To be fair Blue, the end-result of the game and how well supporters reacted to it is a separate issue to an eye-gouging incident by a previous offender. Win, lose or draw there's no place for this stuff in rugby.

Anyway, I'm just waiting for the "but Jerry Collins liked to have a beer with him" line that gets trotted out whenever Schalk does something like this. It just doesn't have a place on the pitch no matter what colour your jersey is. It's just a foul-play issue that should be dealt with like any other.

That sort of play should be let go just because the other team won? This is the at least the second time Burger has had a claw in the region of Pocock's eyes, just to add to the Lions one.

I think the only moving on after that sort of play should be after Burger has been correctly dealt with.

From what I've seen, heaps of Saffas have been whining about the ref, including captain gracious John Smit. Maybe one could run the argument that if Bryce Lawrence wasn't so rubbish then Burger would have been sent off and we would have belted a 14-man Boks side. Alas, the ignorant will continue to bitch and moan about Pocock handling the ball in the ruck.

Try my best to stay away from this but if Lawrense have done his job we would have end up with a penalty try and PoCock with a yellow when he scratched out the ball on his tryline when Schalk nearly scored. But hey help your self into the tit for tat arguments.

My point is that one side has whinged incessantly about the ref, when it is clear that several contentious and highly influential decisions (or omissions in this instance) went against the Wobs. If Australia had lost the match, I'm sure we too would have bemoaned Bryce's handling of the game.

As it stands, I thought he was bad, but bad in an even handed manner. As many have pointed out, he allows a free-for-all at the ruck. Had Brusow been on, he too would have had his mitts all over the ball. As it stood, the Boks were constantly going off their feet to secure their own ball. Moreover, acts of foul play such as this should have been penalized and, quite obviously, resulted in the Boks going down to 14 men, at least temporarily.

I always cringe when Captains moan about a ref. Fucken cop it. You could have scored more points you muppet.

However. Lawrence has been so shite and most people on here agree about that.

John is retiring and I think he couldn't help himself but have a swing.

He will probably regret it later but if it contributes to Lawrence never ever handling a whistle again we all gain.

As for Burger, he did some stupid shit in the past but I think he lost his head in that clip. Has that tendency.

He has a lot of haters and prob deserves that so he'll be around for you guys to have a bitch about for another four years so get used to it.

Jeez this thread has some anger in it for the supporters of a team that should be celebrating.

Don't think I disagree with any of that. However, the "moral outrage" expressed by many at the Wallabies win is extremely disappointing from my perspective and I feel that a thread such as this restores some balance to the post-match fallout.

Doubt he'd have been yellow'd but there were certainly many penalties that were missed that would have changed the score.

Both sides benefited and suffered from the ref. I'm not going to claim we 'played him better' than South Africa because I tend to think that's a bit of a smarmy line to use. But, both sides have their grievances. Unfortunately, none of them will have any impact on the game.

Boet to be really honest, our Saffers on this forum havent moan or groan about the ref. Its usually you lot that have endless posts and before matches about refs. Vokken be happy you are still init and forget about all the shite that happen out there on sunday.

Professional fault if ever I have seen one. He did not even get a penalty for that one. One try and it would have been a total different story.

the filth that he is, the best part was that no wallabies nor Pocock got up and caused any other issue, the way it was going for them they would have got a penalty gone against them close to the up rights. we could have been the ones on the plane home...

To be fair, I thought that Australia had one of the worst team performances from the weekend, and were thankfully saved by the individual brilliance of a few certain players...

Bryce was awful and it didn't benefit either team, although losing Brussouw was a huge blow for the Boks...

If Russouw hadn't taken care of Samo in that lineout it could've been a different result.

Nice point last post PB. We complain about refs way too much. Great thing about rugby is despite a bad ref the best side on the day manages to win a lot more than they lose. In this case the better side isnt apparently obvious and your opinion will likely depend entirely on your team.

Boet around here the laaities are taught to play according the way ref blow it. Playing to the whistle has always been a basic principle from U7 days. That was the differense on sunday and something PoCock probable learned in Zimbabwe. Hopefull the players wont read much on this forum, they'll be dead before the start of their matches. They'll simply lost their game before kick off the way some posters get stuck into the refs around here.

I don't disagree; or at least, I think he was genuinely trying to win the ball, albeit illegally.

I just don't think it would have been a yellow, particularly not at that stage of the game, nor with no prior warnings.

Man how controlled is Bam not to smack him and give away a penalty himself?! If that was me I would have been suspended for 6 weeks for my retaliation. Saying that I guess it happens a lot.

It might happen where there is one grab at the head head on the way through: but I've never seen a guy have 3 goes, all above the head and all of them with an illegal entry to the ruck area.
Why wouldn't the Assistant (huh - there's a joke) ref call it in....thats what the frigging mikes are for
