He plays on the wing for Sydney Uni in the Shute Shield (Sydney club rugby competition).

He's a good club rugby player but I don't think he is about to play Super Rugby.

Thanks. Shut Shield is the next level after Super Rugby in Australia? And if there is money to pay the players in SS?

The Shute Shield is the next step down from Super Rugby in Sydney. Brisbane has an equivalent competition called Premier Rugby.

The players get paid but not very much. It's certainly not fully professional (i.e. you need to have a job if you play Shute Shield).

I assume you are Russian? He has Russian heritage, he would be a great acquisition for the Bears.

Understood, and what is the money 500-1000 USdollars a month?

I agree, but he has already played for Australia-7, so unfortunately, it is for the Bears lost, but was able to play in one of the Russian prof clubs. Do you know more players with Russian roots in Australia (except Jeludev and Byrns)?

By the way, Adam Byrns flew to Romania on the Nations Cup to support the Russian national team, but he will be able to play due to injury.
There are rumors that he may soon move in Russian club Kuban Krasnodar (it's near to Sochi, southern Russia).

Greg is a First Grade winger with Sydney University. He played Australian Under 20s in 2010, and as the video shows he has been a regular member of the Australian Sevens team. He is quick and elusive and a good defender.

I think that Braveheart has given you a wrong steer, rus. Try zero "USdollars a month" which is standard payment at Sydney Uni.

That's interesting. I think that in Russia Jeoludev would be one of the best wingers and earned a few thousand a month.
If he has such a desire, I can on Russian rugby sites post information about it.

I had no idea about Sydney Uni specifically but I was under the impression that some/many clubs give first grade players a small stipend to help cover their costs plus possibly a little more.

I could definitely be wrong. This is just the impression I had.

I think you are right, Braveheart. My comment specifically referred to the situation at Uni.

There are some players getting some money for playing Shute Shield Footy.

Those that are are not getting much, and IMHO it is far less prevalent than what is rumoured.

Most "support" is through contra deals with sponsors, mentoring, assistance with jobs and/or accommodation rather than cold hard cash in the bank.

Guys, what about players with Russian roots in Australia? Official information on living in Australia about 67,000 Russian people. Perhaps many are engaged in rugby.
