Pet Doctor currently leads the competition and he has adopted a new strategy, all winners to win by 5 points. Thought it was dumb at first, then I realised its very smart. What he's really saying is "I think its most likely that team X will win and its more likely that the margin will be 10 points or less. So if I pick that then I have the highest likelihood of scoring margin points, providing I pick the right winner. Moreover, if there is a blowout in the score its much harder for the other players to predict how big that blowout will be. You guess that team X will win by 18, then if they win by 25 you get no bonus points even though you correctly predicted the blowout."
As margin points and bonus points are the key to winning this comp this looks to be a smart play, especially once you get out in front.

Had a look at the Superbru overall comp. Its currently led by a bloke called Harry. He's a Bulls supporter from Pretoria, South Africa. He has an overall win percentage of 87%. This in itself would be amazing until you look at round 5. In that round he had 5 default picks (3 right, 2 wrong) and two no-picks. If you took out round 5, he would be tipping at 90%. That is phenomenal. I'm tipping at 75% and I think I'm a bit of a gun, but this guy is a bazooka.
Just for the record, he's tipping the Blues, Reds, Stormers, Cheetahs and Brumbies for the rest of this week. If he gets all those right I am screwed in the G&GR comp.

Ooohhhh yeah....picked a few correct margins last night. Up to no 2. in G&GR pool. Long way to go in Reds and World pools.

Finally got a clean sweep.
Picked the margins for Blues v Tahs and Reds v Bulls. One off with the Saders v Chiefs and the Cheetahs v Hurricanes and just 2 off the Force v Brumbies.
Still lingering outside the top 100 though (sitting at 102), which is pretty poor considering there is only 165 in the league.
It is certainly looking up for me though.
And I'm wearing that beautiful virtual SuperBru yellow cap for G&GR round 9........I hope that means extra points

I think you get 2 extra points for a clean sweep (so called GSP's I think). The SA guy I referred to above now coming second got three in three weeks I think. I dips me lid.
