Ok so if I go into a game with the intention of taking an opposition players out of the game, and do so blatantly I can stay on the park?

You have to be farking shitting me.

I think you are overreacting for the simple fact that there are preciosuly few red cards and for the most part they are usually right.

Also, repeated infringement should result in a red. It just makes logical sense.

The problem comes in when a ref gets it wrong but the fact that it barely ever happens anyway makes this a non issue.

Paarl frankly it gives me the shits that any time we try and have a mature and adult conversation about a referee's performance you come in and paint us all as whingers and sore losers. No-one is suggesting the result wasn't deserved, or that the referee massively influenced the outcome. But there is no reason we can't look at the performance of the ref as we do any player, looking at strengths, weaknesses, and suggesting ways to do better next time.

If you actually read the posts that occured after the match here and in other threads what you will find is a lot of people defending the defending the ref and a few people criticising. Everyone has been mature and level headed in their analysis, and anyone that wasn't was told to pull their head in. The refs are part of the game and shouldn't be a protected species, nor should they be subjected to any abuse or unfair criticism.

The word intention is always going to be contested. How will we ever know what's intentional? Especially the ref who sees it once in real-time. Leave that up to the judiciary to decide. Let's just say the ref got it wrong and Sidey performed a legit tackle and he was given the red. Imagine the outcry! Now imagine if he was only given a yellow, not so much a big deal. Suspensions when further analysed are the way to go imo. Don't ruin the on-field stuff.

No they're a yellow and rightly so. Two yellows should be a red.

Fair enough but then I hate it when my team lose and the supporters bang the ref first thing or some of them even before the match starts like you lot going on about Kaplan. Anyone who played a bit of rugby know the golden rule for playing the way the ref blow the whistle. Just dumb to blame the ref iso blaming your own team no playing the way they ref. Now that gives me the shit about professional players.

Western Force centre, Rory Sidey, has been suspended for three weeks after a SANZAR judicial hearing found him guilty on the charge of dangerous tackling under law 10.4(j) during the Forces’ games against the Sharks on Saturday.

SANZAR Judicial Officer Dennis Wheelahan QC (Quade Cooper) heard the matter via conference call in Sydney and determined that Sidey should be suspended for three weeks as a consequence of his actions.

Sidey was called before the SANZAR judicial hearing after receiving a straight red card in the 18th minute for a dangerous tackle on Sharks Winger, Odwa Ndungane.

The Force centre didn’t contest that the tackle was dangerous however Mr Wheelahan upheld the dangerous tackle charge and determined that Sidey be suspended for three weeks.

True, but if that is the case then the referee did react to more than just the initial viewing of the incident.

I thought the red card was borderline. It was definitely a yellow and a fifty fifty call on the red. On a another day, it might not have happened. It probably didn't ruin the game as a spectacle, as it wasn't that spectacular to begin with. Like I said during the game, the skill level was absolutely deplorable. From both sides.

To any accusing us Force supporters of sour grapes: definitely not from me. The better team won, but our night was effectively over after the send off. It was damage control after that.

I agree the better team won, but I still think the refs deserve a grilling. Several times the ball traveled 50 meters down the pitch before the ref made a call. Not even an advantage call. Also the touchy on the side where I was sitting might as well have had his mouth sewn shut. A few times he reacted to things happening on field, but always stopped short of pointing them out to the ref.

If other teams are actually attempting to do this to Bam, I would hope that his team mates will step in and belt seven shades of shit out of the offending party.

Sounds like they tried to do just that. Was the spear tackle before or after Bam's injury? Haven't seen the match, but I'm guessing it came after.
