Bruno Cullen was just on the Footy Show, by the sounds of it, rugby union might not be the only code chasing Folau..

Its quite possible that a AFL club is chasing him as well

Folau has 25 hours and 25 minutes to make his mind up. I think it could be unlikely that he makes the deflection towards Rugby Union. Coming out with a decision for your future on a game day (they play tomorrow) isn't something which I have seen.

AFL is after him too? Does that mean he can kick good? I think i smell a fullback role in waiting!

I don't think I've ever seen him kick.

Not that I watch much.

Will be interesting to see what he does.

I think all he has to do is not re-sign with the Broncos by Friday. He doesn't have to actually sign with someone else by Friday. We could be waiting a while now.

As much as it would be good to have someone that big and talented in union, he would probably suit AFL more (assuming he can kick).

the going score card reads:

AFL:greater western sydney, 3 years, 3 million dollars, apparantly had a secret try out with them twice int he last couple of months and passed there tests with flying colours.

RUGBY: rebels, 3 years 600-800 a season depending on if he makes the wallabies

BRONCOS:has a two year option 400 a year.

would not be surprised to see him sign a year with a year option for the rebels allowing him to head to the afl in 2012 which is when the team comes in. that way he could try rugby but have the option to try afl if it didnt work out.

A lot of talk this morning in Melbourne about the AFL and Union fighting for Folau. News report on the radio said that Essendon are trying to get Inglis across to the Bombers, followed by an interview with Inglis saying he doesn't want to play against the Storm.

Being a Melbournian, and in my humble 'relatively new to Rugby Union opinion' I hope that Folau does sign with the Rebels as he is somewhat well known down here due to his stint with the Storm. This whole thing with the Storm and now Folau has people actually talking about Rugby down here. I'm constantly getting asked about how I feel about the Storm controversy because I'm into "Rugby". I then have to explain I'm not into League, but Union (although at the risk of being kicked off this forum I do enjoy a bit of League). But because we love our sport down here, it's all making headlines and to me this is good as it's slowly raising the profile of Union down here and that's what I want!!!

I am sick and tired of these players who hock their services to all and sundry.
If he wants to play rugby then good then he should make his mark on the contract. If he wants to play AFL then do the same.
It is bullshit that a player can't decide what sport he wants to play. If it is just money then the ARU should tell him to piss off and let the other 2 codes play out this farcical situation.
There a plenty of good young rugby players around for outside backs. I say fu.ck off!
That goes for Gas as well.

lets not kid ourselves into thinking that professional rugby in australia isnt about money..
these sort of issues go hand in hand with a professional sport

I am not kidding myself about the money. In fact I have no problems if players move because of the cash.
What I can't stand is the bullshit that is going on regarding what sport they will commit to for their next contract.
Make a decision on the sport then look at the money.
So what happens after his next contract is finished go out and hock himself between the 3 codes again.
The player managers fill their dumb heads with how good they are and can do anything.
I hope he goes to AFL and fails!

You should wish any high quality football to choose rugby as their sports, particularly respectable ones such as Folau. It is only going to make rugby stronger in this country, and weaken its competitors. Which is surely what we all want.

That's a bit mean-spirited. Why exactly do people have to follow your rules of when to commit to a sport? Some people aren't parochial about one sport. If a good offer comes along that involves you moving to a different sport, and you happen to like the offer and the sport, why not take it? The amount of people who think by virtue of being sports fans they someone are owed someone elses life and professional choices astonishes me.

got tired of TWF HG?
they brought record crowds, media coverage and players with them. if that wasnt enough Tuqiri was a try machine in his early years, compare his record with hynes.
sailor for all his detractors played well enough to be a wallaby and brought a crapload of attacking flair to the tahs.
sailor brought a record tv rating and crowd to suncorp when he defected to nsw, i didnt see a crowd spike for the hate match with berrick this year, but they actually invested in sailor.
Tahu was never happy and the fact he was made to work for it only made him less likely to stay, but his team managed to offer him a big contract dispite letting no one from a grand final making team go so expect them to have salary cap issues soon.

the thing is, if they want to play then there worth it, if the ARU is as is being said only kicking in a hunge for a twenty one year old with freakesh talent and he actual wants to play then do it i say.

Professional sport is the only job in the world you'd be criticised for accepting a pay rise! Talking in extremes makes you appear a bit silly mate, no offense.
