Because there is enough negative crap out there already, and I hate Uni as a team we want to beat, but also truly admire what they have done and achieved in raising the level of Rugby in NSW - and there is no button for that, so let's just keep like

What has Uni' got to do with this?

Yeah. But I guess it comes down to that it's all speculation. Is the affect her fault of theirs. My view is that it's very likely the player simply resented the changes. Sort of like "We didn't have to fill out expense forms back when Edgo was here" or something of the sort.

My point is that it sounds like there was a mandate to reduce costs, players need to suck it up if it's merely affecting creature comforts.

Now if it crept into any other those other examples, that's a different story and they would rightfully have reason to complain.
There was talk that she appointed herself the unofficial team psychiatrist and would ask players personal questions at meal times.then there was the claim that she was chasing KB (Kurtley Beale) for an unpaid hotel bill in the middle of a Test.
This would cause resentment in any workplace.

Even the players who came out in support of her, acknowledged she was acting way outside her brief. She was not employed to be a mother figure to professional adults.
She was in charge of booking the bus,and making sure there was plenty of ice.

What if he comes again as the next Reds coach and opens the seven seals on the Waratahs at the next derby.

Some would say its the Reds problem.

I would say he would become a national selector and possibly the assistant coach looking after the forwards.

Maybe my shiny new model needs more work to run smoothly under all conditions.

Indeed, Pulver would never make it in rugby league, where they deal with a text message/social media/player revolt scandal almost on a monthly basis.
Just how true is this? Is this sensationalism or does it hold any truth?

If it is true then I think the ARU will naturally have this problem going ahead which is a shame. The league players joining union certainly won't help the matter.

I think people have made the assumption that Link is in the right here, and good at his job. Which is a fair assumption to make, but it might not be correct.

It will take a while until we have the full story here. I would like to hear the player's side of the story.

Yes that's a fair point.

My view is that Link has never been in the wrong (morally or ethically - of course made errors in coaching decisions at the Reds, but so did Cheika, that's why he didn't go undefeated at the Waratahs), so I won't assume he has done anything wrong until it becomes evident.

Some players have a pattern of behavior. If it comes down to between them, I'm until I know otherwise believing the person who doesn't have any patterns of behavior.

Could easily wrong, but I like to deal in trends myself, not anomalies.

Tim Nielson was really popular with the Australian cricketers when he was a coach. Shithouse coach though.

Popularity with the players, or being unpopular doesn't necessarily mean much.

Boyo - on thread topic - nothing at all, on the question about the dislike button i simply provided an example as to why we shouldn't have one. As I have always said, I commend and appreciate what uni has done for NSW rugby (like button) as an opposing team (dislike button) there in lies the stupidity of applying a dislike button.

Scary scenario:
Cheika becomes National coach, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) leaves for NH Rugby, following a generous offer. Cheika shows his faith in, and Man-love for Beale, by naming him Vice-Captain. Just before RWC, Hooper is injured, so Cheika elevates Beale to Captain and appoints the now-fit Moore Vice Captain. They take us into the 2015 RWC!! (By way of explanation, I am a Piscean)!

Mr Doug if this prediction comes true than this waterbearer will lose the water out of her jug, replace with JD to the brim, then complete the one-woman boat race to end all boat races.

i don't want to be pedantic and i don't want a mod banning me, but could you please enlighten me on the apostrophe in "player's"?
do you mean "the player's" - i.e. Beale's
or
"the players' " - i.e. the side of the story from the players.

thanks - and sorry for being thick.

I'd welcome it with open arms. When Sailor defected to the Tahs, that first game at Suncorp was unreal. I loved it, even though I'm pretty sure the Reds lost.

Fair enough, but I was more referring to those inside the sheds these past few months, when obviously it has all hit the fan.

Normally teams that are split by factions leak left, right and centre. We've had nothing so far. This doesn't mean they are a united front, but it is one piece of evidence that they are.

Agree with this.

I'm putting aside right, wrong, who did what and who didn't, for now, to say this:

My only comment about Link is that I do feel sympathy for a guy who clearly aspired to follow a career dream of club player to Wallaby to club coach to national coach, and achieved it, only for it to end so bitterly and prematurely, regardless of the reason.

I don't imagine that is how he saw it unfolding when he first got the stars in his eyes all those years ago.

It sucks when something you hold so dear turns out to have teeth.

So yes, I do feel for the guy.

That's the way I'm looking at it.
I have no doubt that guys like slipper,QC (Quade Cooper),Horwill etc were huge supporters of Link.
However the squad has clearly got together and decided to focus on what's ahead of them, not what's behind them.
At least I hope it was their decision, and not an uncle Bill directive.

If they didn't like Ewen the question is always, "why?".

Prison inmates don't like the warden either, that doesn't say much about the warden though.

So Cheika accepted the job, yes?

Congratulations to him.

I wish him, the ARU and the Wallabies the best and I hope they improve and get their act together for their supporters and so we may continue enjoying our rivalry with the Aussies.

I also hope he puts an end to the off-field behaviour and drivel that has plagued the Australian national team the last couple of years.

Long may rugby continue being considered one of the purest sports and as the sport that gets fat kids picked first.

Here's a cheers to a resurgent Wallabies and a bright future for Australian rugby that propels them out of their current financial and administrative woes.

@Ulrich we need to remember for the team to be successful, the coach has to engage the players in what he is trying to achieve.

My view is that Link has a track record of this. At the same time there is potential he let that go to his head and changed. I don't believe that simply because there's been no evidence to suggest that though.

Whatever it is, eventually we will hear the full story.

That's a poor analogy.

A rugby coach has to have the confidence of his players. Great teams don't succeed hating their coach. They may not be mates with him but they certainly have to respect him.

There is a possibility that Link lost the respect of his team. Whether it was his fault or not, that would present major issues.
