It's not the lifting they don't like , it's taking player past vertical, which is why I don't think anything happened with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) one.
It was a spear tackle SHWow, I thought 2 weeks at the absolute max. 5wks I would have thought would be spear tackle territory. Reds fans have every right to be mad, if it were my team I'd be pissed off.
Is there really much difference in the angle the player gets to between Digby's tackle and the tackle on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) against the Highlanders?
I think 5 weeks is harsh on Diggers, but some suspension was probably warranted. I think the tackle on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was worth a similar suspension though.
I think AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) came down level, but certainly noone came down on top of him like Digby. In saying that I not defending players or having a go at Digby, just pointing out what I can see as huge differences.AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) goes well past horizontal. He breaks his fall with his elbow much like Coetzee did. I really think they got to very similar angles and both put their elbow/arm out to break their fall otherwise they would have landed on their heads.
Same tackles
I would think they would just take the 4 weeks and leave it, like I said he has come down on top of player, which is considered driving him down, so he won't get any lighter.
It was a spear tackle SH
And I wouldn't disagree Barb, just saying I think these 2 particular tackles are quite different because of the holding of legs and driving down on top of player. I would have no probs if Poki had been looked at, I not trying to say ones a good one ,and one's not, just a spear tackle is considered to be when you lift player, and drive down on top of him. I think if everyone calms down and looks they will see Digby holding legs and falling on top= spear tackle. But you could make the argument that Poki dropped AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) from a height and made no attempt to lower him to ground.
It was a spear tackle SH
Probably this. What are his priors that were taken into account?
He did not look worried after he did it. Pretty lucky and should have got a red card. Kaplan let him off the hook.As excessive as I think 5 weeks is, bottom line is he's an idiot for doing it. He let the team down for the 10 mins he was off and now he's let them down for the next four games when we can't afford to be losing players. It should be clear to all players by now that if you're going to do a tackle like that you can end up in real trouble
