8 weeks reduced to 5 what a fucking joke. Quick get the justice for Diggers armbands ready. It's just a really good hit not even a penalty just play on.

It's not the lifting they don't like , it's taking player past vertical, which is why I don't think anything happened with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) one.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) goes well past horizontal. He breaks his fall with his elbow much like Coetzee did. I really think they got to very similar angles and both put their elbow/arm out to break their fall otherwise they would have landed on their heads.

Is there really much difference in the angle the player gets to between Digby's tackle and the tackle on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) against the Highlanders?

I think 5 weeks is harsh on Diggers, but some suspension was probably warranted. I think the tackle on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was worth a similar suspension though.

Same tackles

I think AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) came down level, but certainly noone came down on top of him like Digby. In saying that I not defending players or having a go at Digby, just pointing out what I can see as huge differences.

Same tackles

I said that Diggers was in trouble in the game thread because he kept his leg drive going after he had turned the player. But it shits me that Polki didn't even get a penality against him, a warning, or a one game ban.... and Diggers got 5 fucking weeks. Totally ignoring the 8 weeks that the original penality was. This is just a joke!

I would think they would just take the 4 weeks and leave it, like I said he has come down on top of player, which is considered driving him down, so he won't get any lighter.

d54, you can clearly see that it's not intentional that Diggers 'comes down on top of player', he just sort of slips backwards a tad and then is out of control of his stance, and then falls forward as he's awkwardly trying also to reduce the severity of the tackled player's fall, no way that 'falling on' appears deliberate, or readily avoidable.

Note: the ref's and linesman call was 'not putting a player down safely'.

It was a spear tackle SH

I very much doubt it was a spear tackle.
A spear tackle is where you pile drive a player into the ground from the verticle - this had quite a bit of lateral in the tackle if you look at the replays.
Really a very unjust decision made by ................ just who was on the judiciary making the decisions??

He deserves what he got, could have been 8 weeks. Wasnt he banned in the past for the same thing? Do have a bit of thug in him.

But you could make the argument that Poki dropped AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) from a height and made no attempt to lower him to ground.
And I wouldn't disagree Barb, just saying I think these 2 particular tackles are quite different because of the holding of legs and driving down on top of player. I would have no probs if Poki had been looked at, I not trying to say ones a good one ,and one's not, just a spear tackle is considered to be when you lift player, and drive down on top of him. I think if everyone calms down and looks they will see Digby holding legs and falling on top= spear tackle.

Well if he didn't learn then, he got a problem, and if you listen to touchie in that video, he actually said spear tackle, lifted above vertical and drove player down. If commentators there are right even that one not his first!!

As excessive as I think 5 weeks is, bottom line is he's an idiot for doing it. He let the team down for the 10 mins he was off and now he's let them down for the next four games when we can't afford to be losing players. It should be clear to all players by now that if you're going to do a tackle like that you can end up in real trouble

He did not look worried after he did it. Pretty lucky and should have got a red card. Kaplan let him off the hook.
