The Lions S15 franchise is a bit of a mind baffle. Their S15 team struggled at home against the Leopards and even more against the Pumas. Sure they need to get them on board in S15 rugby like the Tin Ears do with Griquas. Myself watched the Griquas vs Puma match and sure as hell some quality players in that Puma side. Griquas were way ahead and then the Pumas start their fight back and nearly clinched it at the end. Also watch a bit of the Sharks game, they scored quick and the Tin Ears also show some fight back but not enough. The WeePee young team way better then their Brutes counterpart. JJ Engelbrecht had his future new team on the backfoot with some nice running. For WeePee I thought their loose trio played pretty well. Small Kitshoff look like a new Brussouw in the making and give Koster and specially Kolisi play freedom. Kolisi show we have a new star in the making when Francois Louw leave. He just took it up another knot where he laft off with the SA U20 WC tournament. Dewaldt Duvenhage play on saturday was the best I have seen from him in CC rugby. Cant believe the Bok wisemen have McCleod above him and he sure as hell give our Ikey Greek and backs enough time to show some magic. For the Brutes its an uphill battle and they need their Bok lot playing Down Under urgently. At least the CC made up more then enough for the Bok depression.

My prediction for this weekend:

Pumas v Blue Bulls:
*Stonehouse I think has cracked the whip this week and will push the Bulls all the way, but I think the Bulls will have the experience to push themselves to the end, just! Bulls between 1 - 3 points.

Griquas v Leopards:
*Griquas probably too much class for the Leopards. Griquas by 10 odd points

Province v Sharks:
*Province is still licking their wounds from last weekend and expect to continue this weekend. That Sharks team looks pretty impressive and I will go with a Sharks win by 5 points. Yip, sorry Oom, but then again I also thought the Lions will win the 2011 SupeRugby.....

Golden Lions v Cheetahs:
*Ooohhh....going to be a cracker of a game this one. The Lions need to keep the ball in hand and protect it. The Lions I think attack the line better than the Cheetahs, which means the Lions can camp in the Cheeaths 22m and force the unforced errors. Lions by 8 - 10 points

Currie Cup will be 6 teams from next year. Could get interesting to see which two teams will fall on the sword.

Superrugby
The Absa Currie Cup Premier Division will be contested by six teams from 2012 and eight teams will play in the Absa Currie Cup First Division, the SARU General Council decided today at a meeting in Newlands.

The decision was confirmed after a majority vote was cast in favour of the format by delegates of SARU’s 14 provincial unions. The Absa Currie Cup Premier Division currently consists of eight provincial teams.
“The General Council accepted by majority vote an Executive Council proposal of an Absa Currie Cup Premier Division which will consist of six teams from next year. Our unions debated this proposal, as well as a counter-proposal, in a robust and mature manner and in the end they made a decision which will ultimately benefit South African rugby,” said SARU President, Regan Hoskins.

Mr Hoskins, James Stoffberg (SARU Vice-President) and Jurie Roux (SARU CEO) were also confirmed as the SARU delegates to SASCOC, the SA Olympic body.

Another point on the agenda was the discussion of South African rugby franchises’ participation in Vodacom Super Rugby post 2012. This topic was deferred for discussion at the President’s Forum to be held in November.

Brutes & WeePee under a bit of pressure. Not nice to see the two old rivals struggling at the moment but then they are playing all their youngsters and a new cycle starting. WP a bit better , they may have lost their last two matches against the Cheetahs and Sharks but they sure could have won both matches with a bit more experiense. Tomorrow they will play against the log leader Lions team on a high at Newlands and look like a rainy match again. Luckily they have Appels and JdJ back. Still about 6 or 7 U21s in this WP side while their u21 team the team in that league. Brutes lost Stegman and Slangkos and will have to dig deep at the Ring against Super Sarel and his fellow biltong eaters.

Subtsitutes: 16 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 17 Rossouw de Klerk, 18 Gerrit-Jan van Velze, 19 Jono Ross, 20 Dustin Jinka, 21 Marnitz Boshoff, 22 Francois Venter

I would have said that Chiliboy was the number three hooker for the Boks. How come he is only starting from the bench? Has Gary Botha eclipsed him for the WC squad?

You'll note that Aplon and JdJ have also been released and on the bench. The Bokke lot released them way to late and the provinces start their preparing on a monday and will start with the players who prepared the best.

Wit that team WP should be doing way better.

Just another thing for Blou's attention: Jurgens Visser (Vissie) is doing great in the 15 position for the Brutes. he played 10 with Louis Schreuder and the Smith Twins for Paarl Gym. Paarl Gym now providing midfield players alll over SA provinces

Sadie (going to the Brutes), Stemmet (Griquas), Jean de Villiers (WP), Dylan des Fountain (Lions) and Marius Joubert (Sharks). Sadly they do the same thing with the fatties Rossouw de Klerk (Brutes), Lourens Adriaanse (Griquas) and Ouboet Jacobie (Lions).

Probably but sadly the Bokke did not released any players to us when we played Cheetahs (they had Brussouw, Ashley Johnson and Coenuie Oosthuizen back) and Sharks (they had Lampie, Mvovo, Kankowski back) and we sure took them close. The Sharks should thank Michalak for last week win in the rain. Myself cant still figure out why France dont have his quality in their WC group. Wish he could be our 10 the form he is displaying at the moment in CC rugby.

The golden line however is that despite WP and Brutes struggling, our youth teams still lead in the youth competitions. Now with the new format it will be a sad day if WP or Brutes get promoted to 1st div.

Young Brutes smashing Griquas. WP just get the better of a determined Lions team. We find a new 10 in WP country, Ikey Greek plays better by the day and winning this one in the end with a penalty from the sideline. The two WP fatties Ginga and Malherbe had a good game against the Lions, ditto with the young U20 Bokke Kolisi and specially Carr. I am in fact very impressed with the way our youngsters joining the CC table, future look bright.
