Anyway back to the game, when did the Tahs last beat the Saders?

I can't find those records, but I know the Tah's last beat the saders in chch in 2004, can't find the score, but it was the first game of the season.

well for the few believers left, the Tahs will be at Sydney airport tomorrow morning. I will be waving them off with the undivided support of NSW.

As much as I am a QLD fan, I have to say it is pretty strange that a team that is on top of the table and pretty consistently getting bonus points is getting so knocked. A bit of tall poppy syndrome.

If we can "roll the c*nts" to borrow Van's words then half the world will want to be on the Tahs. Its the Crusaders away, the toughest game in the comp. If we win our credentials are impeccable, if we lose we can probably start planning for next year. For the Tahs, this game is the pivotal game in the 14 rounds. (Had we put the Bulls away it would not have been so vital but we didn't.)

So everyone's hoping like hell that Cliffy's hammy will stay together and he can have a big one along with everyone else in the pack. But no one's under any illusions about the game. Would Blackadder be making those comments if we were some other team? Not likely. He knows how big a threat we are, but he also knows how good his own team can be and how much they will want to make up for last week. That was just mind games.

Its not tall poppy syndrome, its the gut-wrenching tightness you get when you want to win but your team so far has gone nowhere near reaching its real potential, and you know they have to step it up to test level intensity after three easy matches and one tough one. There are no guarantees they will, just their fans rooting for them to do it.

I reckon there's every chance the Tahs will do the Cru. McCaw at 6. Carter not on top of his game. A couple of pensioners at lock.

I strongly support all of the Australian teams when they play the twin Evils from UnZid and Setheffrika. I really can't understand anyone who does differently.

Last weekend I watched the Tahs and Reds with a Qlander mate. He could not understand how I could support the Reds - he spent 80 minutes howling for Tah blood. Strange.

Funny enough, I'm predicting a clean sweep by all Australian teams this weekend. Will it happen, I doubt it.

Good luck at the airport tomorrow, wish 'em all the best for me too!

I'm actually pretty happy with this season, can't see what the fuss is about. They're miles ahead of 13 other teams for tries scored, have won most of the tough games, almost beating the Bulls in Pretoria. Only shocker was the Stormers match, against a red hot outfit after a hellish flight. Sure there was 20 minutes of kicking in the Sharks match, but every team plays a shit game against the Sharks.

Forgive me but I am not drinking the Kool Aid.

Some teams just have your number. Saders will do us by a dozen. The Tahs simply cannot play at a high pace & like things slow & deliberate. Saders eat that shit up.

why do people start to bag the Tahs as soon as they start doing well. if the brumbies or reds were top of the table, no one would dare question them, even if they still havent had the bye, or even if Tom Carter was in their squad. But of course, the Waratahs, even with hard work and tough wins, get questioned even though they are top of the table? they have one the same amount of games as the bulls, and got there on points difference, a thing which cost them big time last year.

Am I the only true believer left?

F oath. This may be the pure blondes talking (yes, i'm watching my carbs...) But they are number one for a reason, who cares about the bye week to come, i would prefer them to be 1 than anywhere else, they have bee pretty sick. Lets see some optimism, Tahs are on fire they will roll the Saders. NSW its time to do this. #1 Tah, you are definitely not the only believer out there.

Biff, I'm surprised you would include your home town (that sits along the foot hills of the Aussie Alps from memory) in either category. ;)

Your lesson begins:

The 2004 off-season delivered major news and a change in the structure of the ACT Rugby Union. A constitutional reform was passed to expand the territory of the ACT Rugby Union to incorporate the Far South Coast and Southern Inland Unions. The ACT Rugby Union was renamed the ‘ACT and Southern NSW Rugby Union from November 2004. The team name ‘ACT Brumbies’ was changed to ‘Brumbies Rugby’ and a new identity was launched to reflect the expanded region of the Brumbies.

PS: Suckers of the Government = most prosperous place in Oz according to recent figures ;)

I will also pledge my undying support for the 'Tahs. Until next year, when I become a Rebels supporter.

I think people need to realize that the, for once, Hickey's crap about building up to something, might actually be coming through.

Those southern hicks may've rebelled and thrown in their lot with the Brumbies, but the good burghers of Wagga Wagga STILL call their champions the Waratahs. And they wear light blue with great pride.

On another note Brumbies Rugby do a great job developing rugby in southern NSW, I'm ashamed to say much better than the NSWRU ever did. For the first time there's now a junior competition outside of Canberra, the one Wagga plays in stretches from Young to Griffith. For those city parents who grizzle about playing at Penrith at 8:00am on a winter's morning, how about leaving Griffith at 6:00am to travel to Wagga for a 40 minute game for your little tacker and return home later that day.

It was wonderful to see NSW rugby giving a leg up to their undernourished southern opposition
