Smithy harps on and on and on about what his beloved Crusaders should be doing and how to rectify their predicament, growing increasingly exasperated, meanwhile rendering the opposition (yes, the team that are kicking his beloved Cantabs arses) as incidental bit players to proceedings.

Hansen has some tough calls. Well not tough imo but others may think so. Carter and McCaw have played their last Tests.

Some of Carter's touches were superior to Slade's (some weren't) but I don't think he can play 12 any more.
I get the feeling Blackadder is picking on sentiment.

You wish (& have been doing so for as long as I can remember :))

Or lack of options: plenty off forward depth but fuckall in the backs, too many ETS & Development players for mine.

Crusaders. Season. Over.

I know it's hard to see through black tinted glasses, but based on current form McCaw and Carter aren't in the AB's 23.

Can certainly understand why Shag will pick McCaw and he will then grow another leg and play for the AB's as he always has. But that won't be on current form. It will be on knowledge of what he can bring.

Carter I can't see a spot for. He's the 4th best 10 and 3rd best 12 in NZ right now. Only sentiment will get him on the plane. No one can match his skills kicking out of hand, but he's too far behind with his ball running.

Fuck I'd love to get James Lowe in any team I support.

By the way, I know Blues have dibs on first NZ team coach boning in 2015, but Blackadder has to be looking shaky. He's done nothing with the Saders. Probably won't be boned, but maybe won't receive a new contract offer?

Oh and Brodie Retallick is back. Kids still got it.

Again I was impressed with the game plans by both teams where they kicked for distance, not touch, when exiting from their own red zone. Ball sent well into the opposition half, and with a good chase had the play on or about the half way line rather than on the 22m line. Chiefs were better than the Crusaders at exiting their try line area, and the one time they (Crusaders) should have found touch was when Carter (?) kicked from on his dead ball line. Chiefs fielded the ball about 30m out and two passes later scored their third try. Mostly, it preved to be a good option to kick long.

Wish we would see more of this from our conference.

Geez McCaw must be in for another top year if Gwerty is writing him off:p, and I a bit worried about Cane who I thought played a bloody good game last night (at least as good as Pocock's that we all enjoyed last week) , has Gwerty now put the mockers on him. While agreeing that McCaw is not on top of game, I would prefer he left it until international season.
On the game, it seems to me the Crusaders are playing like 15 players playing rugby while the Chiefs played like a team of mates! Saders must find a plan that doesn't just involve passing the ball to Nadolo and seeing who he can run over, not sure how well Matson and Mauger are coaching the backs, and wonder if perhaps Blackadder wishes he hadn't cut Gibson's involvement so much that he left. Will be surprised if Crusaders make the finals, as seems to be too much to fix.

^^^^^^^ even if we win all 7 remaining games (which we won't) we'd still need the Clan and/or Tribe to fall over in a heap (ain't gonna happen) OR your blokes to totally implode......... yeah, nah, we forked, may as well start planning for life after GOAT, Carter, Slade, Ellis, Heinz, T Taylor....... anyone I missed? 2016 is gonna suck big time & not just 'cos of the stupid & unnecessary expansion.

Actually WOB, I know there a bit of conversation on Blackadders future etc, if they did replace him, I think Crusaders should try and get Keane from Tasman to take over, could also help with picking up some good Tasman players??

Quite amazing to see such a clueless 'saders side kick away with non-contestable (and often just bad) kicks

I also don't understand why Carter is at 12, he is just shovelling wider well behind the gain line.

yes hes very handy isnt he, was surprised at how good his kick game was, long low and into space (as Brumby Runner alluded to), well timed too. Quick blokes like him dont usually need to bother learning to kick! Quite a size too, listed as 104 kg.

Oh well, he's probably already done a Bryce Heem and we'll never get to seen him again, probably signed overnight to ply his wares on the outskirts of a puddle in Lancashire.

Tasman boy as well, so the Crusaders may be kicking themselves they didn't pick him up.

Blackadder still has a year of his contract left but, yeah, I'd be getting Keane in their as an assistant ASAP before the fuckin' D'Aucks get their paws on him. See how he goes with a view to taking over from TB post-2016.
