At least it means that there is one less game I will stuff up in my tipping comps.

My sympathies to all those affected over there regardless.

With the State of Emergency being declared NZ wide, there is a real possibility that there will be insufficient public resources available to enable large public gatherings such as Rugby matches to be held in a safe and orderly manner. The suspension of normal rule by the declaration of the S of E will give the Commissioner of Police the power to veto any public gathering which he is unable to provide staff to maintain order and security at. Since 200 Police officers plus military personel have been imported from Oz to assist NZ at this time it is not beyond the realms of possibility that all Super games in NZ are suspended this weekend. If that is the case so be it, the resources could definitely be put to better use than crowd control and security at a Rugby match.

I am not a religous man but I confess that I said a few words to the big man upstairs for the people of Christchurch. We have had our floods and cyclones but at least we had some warning but the little warning of an earthquake takes terror to a new level. Hearing stories in the news yesterday of people having limbs amputated amongst the rubble so they can be rescued just leaves a sickly feeling in your stomach. Sport may be the last thing on the mind at the moment but as time moves on, rugby will be crucial in the rebuilding process. I truly believe there is a deeper reason why we all love this game other than the entertainment it provides on the field. It brings people together.

With the shorter international program with the RWC, I would love to see a charity match of some kind. Maybe a All Blacks vs Australia/South Africa Barbarians or a third Bledisloe.

Yes, there is story on the Canberra Times website saying both matches have been shifted to Nelson.

Think I will buy a Crusaders jersey or something from www.rugbypostnz.com even though I don't normally support them. Shop is on the edge of Cathedral Square so will probably take a few weeks before this bloke can get back into his shop and you can't imagine that local trade would be brisk then.

I rekkon the tahs game should be called off. Can you imagine how bad we would feel if we beat them??

One question that has not been covered in this thread. How does this effect Nonu's suspension? He sould be clear to play next week. It is only fair.

nope, his ban will be extended to the chiefs game

Well that's just bullshit. If there can be enough mutual respect to call a draw and have SANZAR sign off on it, then this issue could be sorted out in such a manner. I can't see anybody having a problem with this so make it happen SANZAR.
