Stan Sport claiming it was the first time since 2001. Seems they forgot about the Crusaders missing out in 2015 despite having more points than the Sharks.

Is it funnier to laugh at them being bad or laugh at them missing out even when they're good? Either way I'm laughing.

Not only has Fergus Burke departed for Ringinland (for whom he's immediately available c/- an English mother) but now fullback/ 5/8 Blair Murray (ex NZ Schools & U20) has signed for Scarlets & his mum's Welsh...

Kinda sets the rebuild back a bit :(

Stadium is roughly half built & 10-year naming rights have been sold to One New Zealand, the telco formerly known as Vodafone (funny how telcos think a name change will stop people hating how crappy they are).

The Crusaders’ pig of a season is unlikely to cost head coach Rob Penney his job.

More than a month after the Crusaders instructed an external company to help them review arguably their worst season in history, the autopsy is nearing a conclusion.

While Gain Line Analytics are conducting further work before reporting their full findings to the Christchurch-based franchise, it’s understood early reports have not doomed Penney.

His fate won’t be confirmed until a board meeting at the end of July, but all signs are pointing to Penney being retained for the second year of his two-season contract.

Safe for year 2 of his 2-year contract but will likely need to win a Championship next year to get re-signed. Which is gunna be kinda tough with the 5/8 options he'll have, even if the other big names on the roster mostly stay healthy.

True but I don't think they'll want to effectively double their coach salary budget. Plus he's not without support within the Rugby community down there. Either he fails again next year & gets replaced or he wins it & gets reappointed.

I can save them some money on getting report printed. They lost too many games and weren't very bloody good!! There were 8 teams better and 3 worse! Not sure if there is something wrong with a lot of these franchises etc if they need reports to see the obvious!

Who do I send bill too?

As expected Penney keeps his job & turns out he's on a two-year contract not three as I thought so there's speculation he's pretty much just keeping the chair warm for Tamati Ellison to take over in 2026.
