Just a joke..
They deferred the game prior to school holidays which was the one I below to qualify for further reps. Then never played it. Then they have a bye in place.

Really??, are the SJRU going to do anything about this (I know, of course not). No wonder our junior rugby is going down the sh!tter from 15's and up. The talent pool will continue to dry up and Australian Rugby will suffer long term.

You cannot defer a game to qualify for reps - if you have not played it then it is not a game played. They played Wests in round 8 (15 June) after the State Champs to qualify for Regionals and need to play 2 more prior to the end of the year to qualify for the October carnival - one of those is the bye. They now need to play one more.

What can the SJRU do if they are meeting all the requirements?

They did not agree with the movement of the goalposts at the start of the year and everyone was made aware what would happen if the qualification rules were bought in.

Then they should not have entered a team in the U16 comp if they had the intention of doing what they have done. At the same time the SJRU were very aware of what the intentions were, yet they still let it happen.

The north shore rugby elite will always have an excuse to get what they want and it will always be given a blind eye by those who "run" the game

Who gives a rats what they agree with and who the hell are they to be issuing warnings on what would happen. The arrogance is breathtaking.

The argument that Chatswood/Gordon are acting within the rules is utter BS. Their cynical manipulation is contrary to the spirit of the rules and the game. (PS I believe Mosman/HH are playing the same game with the sudden disappearance of their Sydney/NSW schools all stars) The SJRU are part of the problem not the solution and equally culpable.

I have had heated debates on these pages over last year’s Sydney 15’s selections and to my disgust this year’s 16’s selections, following MWZ dominance, were even worse. The SJRU are a disgrace and should hang their heads in shame.

Fortunately something is being done about it. The MWZ boys will receive some justice and the ‘North shore elites’ with their SJRU sponsors will be exposed as the bozo’s they truly are come October.

Stay tuned!

I don't think M/HH have anyone in NSW Schools and they only have 3 in Sydney - deserved or otherwise.
I know why you want to drag them into your vendetta but there are more rational allegations you could make.

Slugga, don't let the facts get in the way.

Whether you like it or not Chatswood haven't broken the rules. They have simply met the minimum requirement under the rules as they stand. These rules are voted on by the clubs - SJRU are just there to enforce them. If you want a rule changed then become a President or lobby yours to effect change. The irony is the major push to get rid of the Grandfather clause and create this situation came from one of your own Western Zone districts.

Plus just for accuracy - a quick check of the games played on Buddha show that all the Mosman kids in the Sydney team played the last round.

On the Sydney selections - i too don't agree with all of them but in fairness they were independent selectors and i don't think they missed any of the out and out stars. You seem to imply that some North Shore players have been undeserving selections, whereas neither these nor the MWZ players are the decisions that surprised me.

Good luck to the Western Sydney team - but if i am hearing correctly the selections in it will be just as controversial.

Ok, so Chatswood have forfeited rounds 5,6,7 & 9 so far.... Why after round 7 weren't they asked to explain themselves and inturn the Competition Manager (IE: SJRU) take appropriate action?

2014 SJRU Rules:
5.5 (H) The Competition Manager may disqualify any Team that forfeits three (3) or more Matches in a season. If a Team forfeits three (3) or more Matches in a season, they will be required to furnish an explanation to the Competition Manager as to why they should remain in the Competition. In this instance the Team will be deemed to have withdrawn from the Competition and Competition Rule 3.13 will apply and / or the Team will become ineligible to participate in the Final Series.

seems like a fair point

Good to see that I am not the only person who actually reads the SJRU Competition Rules.

This provision on forfeiting has been in the rules for many years.

Interesting to see what SJRU and Chatswood Club do about this breach.

Personally, I'd like to see the Chatswood Club given a kick in the pants blah blah blah and so on....however would this have an impact on the boys that have made further rep honours?

Should they have been (or still be) allowed to remain elligible?

...and 7 in the presidents xv.
My vendetta as you put it is based on the gap between performance and their disproportionate representation in the Sydney sides over the past two years. Do I think the MWZ have been screwed (again) - absolutely.

Never said Chatswood broke the rules but they do cynically manipulate them at the expense of the health of Sydney rugby.

I did say 'I believe' HH/Mosman reps have stopped playing club, if that's not the case then I stand corrected.

Finally I'm not implying 'that some North Shore players have been undeserving selections', I'm out and out stating it.

MWZ are screwed relative to Northern Zone.
Barbarians were screwed too but they don't have a champion.
I agree that it doesn't seem to matter how MNZ perform they will always supply the largest or equal largest number of players.
You and I both know why.

Wow IS, we're actually finding common ground.
This could be the start of a wonderful bromance!

It could be.
I saw the zone games this year but did not see them last - I am happy to call it as I see it, no doubt offending Garry Owen III.
The fact is that a good many of the MNZ boys got in on reputation.
In a number of cases they don't deserve the reputations that they seem to have.
Its not helped by having administrators who are parents nipping around the heels of the coaches and selectors.

As someone who is in my 4th go around in junior village rugby (if you count my playing time in the 70s), I just can't believe some of the goings on in junior rugby. Is it any wonder numbers are in (sharp) decline. Aside from the matters listed in this thread re Chatswood 16s, I've witnessed nepotism, absolutely disgraceful selection decisions and processes, parental misbehaviour, coaches cynically exploiting rules, clubs going out of their way to make things difficult for their opposition and clubs deliberately nominating teams in 2 or 3 divisions below where they should be (presumably so they can see their sons with a trophy of some description). And this sort of stuff is happening in 10s! I talk to people at the club and they shrug their shoulders - apparently this is junior rugby in the 21st century.

Honestly, you couldn't make some of this shit up if you tried. At senior level, people wouldn't even dream of this crap, but it happens in kids sport.

I am so disillusioned with junior club rugby, the way it's run and they way certain adults carry on, if I wasn't such a rugby fan, my son would be playing league next year.
