Turner did not play in the final and was all iced up. I don't know what the story is there or if it as just precautionary.QUOTE]

I heard he was hanging for a werris while warming up. In the process of finding a tree and being extra discreet he tripped over a branch and hurt his ankle. Nothing serious though - just a precaution.

Ha ha, knowing Rugby park up here, I find that completely believable.

And now NSW has gone to Daylight Savings, working out the time for these games will be a lottery depending on where you are.

Let's hope that someone remembers to keep score during the match after the scoreboard at the Rugby ground fell over last night

Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens competition manager Kevin Culliver said it was lucky that it "happened when no spectators were around".

He he he. This could describe most of the events at the CG's.

Hope they get it right for Monday.

Starmers: My tip for Commonwealth Sevens Gold - AUSTRALIA
(IRB.COM) Saturday 9 October 2010
By Nigel Starmer-Smith
From Delhi

IRBSevens.com will provide regular round-ups on both match days at the Commonwealth Games Sevens, Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October. On the eve of the tournament, chief Rugby Sevens commentator Nigel Starmer-Smith runs the rule over the leading contenders and gives his tip for Gold.

I've been wrong in the past with my predictions, and I'll probably be wrong again, but someone has asked me to make a call! I'm just happy that I don't have to put my house on it..

I think you can bring it down to six teams going all out for gold here in Delhi.

Australia - Why I like Australia so much is not just the individual talent but the fact that Michael O'Connor has a squad with Sevens expertise, culminating in their victory at Twickenham at the London Sevens, a remarkable achievement eight years after they'd last won a tournament. They beat Samoa last weekend at the Oceania Sevens and they for my mind are the favourites.

I believe he has foreseen what lies ahead and, with the helpful backing of Wallaby coach Robbie Deans, has picked a young squad who have come through with an average age of 20. He's produced players with real expertise in Sevens and that's the key.

You've got Luke Morahan, Robbie Coleman, Kimami Sitauti - brilliant young players. You've got Pat McCutcheon captaining and the superb James Stannard deputy. They've lost a couple through injury but he's also rung the changes a little bit and you have Lachie Turner in their too as a rapid flyer and someone with experience of playing right at that top level. What a chance for him to put up his hand and show Robbie Deans that he should really be in that Wallaby World Cup squad for next year.

I'm going to stick with a bit of an upset in Australia for gold, but just like last time in Dubai.. I could so easily be wrong.

ten and one will show the 7s, although I reckon it will be only the Aussie games and it really wouldn't surprise me if its (1) delayed and (2) edited highlights (until the finals).
