I'd like to see

10 KB (Kurtley Beale)
12 JOC (James O'Connor)
13 inman
15 gerrard

Moses, genuine question: out of interest, when do you consider KB (Kurtley Beale) has proven himself as a viable S15 10? Didn't he play 10 in the very last Tahs match of 2011, and, IIRC for most observers, hardly handled that role that day with a natural touch.

rebels did try to get lealifano and I think To'omua as well, but both committed to the brumbies.

remember, it was far from easy to get players to committ to a brand new team.

they picked up some great young ones (pyle, jones etc) and some new faces to a ussie rugby (mitchell, saffy etc)

10 was a tough position to recruit for i think. Think they even looked at brock james, but he wasn't willing to leave. they looked nearly everywhere. i know they had a fleeting look at mike pyke, the canadian and ex top 14 player now with the swans, but he wasn't willing to stop afl.

Keep KB (Kurtley Beale) at 15. No reason to play him at 10 other than purely for gags. I'd rather we move JOC (James O'Connor) to 10 and try and fill 12, although ideally JOC (James O'Connor) will stay 12.

Word is Lealiifano is back on the radar in the off-season [/offtopic]

An amicable departure for/from Cips is very sensible. He may have had one or two excellent performances for you, but IMO they were the notable exception. His defence in 2011 was truly appalling - and, critically, uncompensated for by consistent impact and skill - and cost you serious points on more than one occasion. Sale should send Muggleton a crate of fine champagne for putting Cips on the road to a capacity to tackle adequately. Cips is a massive distance from a Test start as England 10, that is pure ego as much as it is objective aspiration.

I would still contend that if Macqueen had done a Link and looked for less glamorous talent for his 10 in the under bushes of NSW and QLD and NZ/SA rugby, and taken a few more risks with youth or the unconventional choice (a la Beau R, Samo, Harvey, Harris, Pretorious etc), the Rebels would have prospered more. Just for example, the Rebels could likely have recruited Dallan Murphy from QLD, whom I guarantee is a more talented and complete player at 10 than Cips and would have been probably been with you for 3-5 years. But in late 2010, everyone would have said 'Dallan who...are you kidding...from Brisbane Premier Grade?'.

He has been a lot better with a talented player outside him instead of Huxley.

Kurtley played plenty of games at 10 for the Tahs, always threatened the line and ran his backline well. Given more time at 10 I reckon he'd challenge Quade for the spot on their relative attacking merits. Defensive merits, probably a different story...

Why would you want to move a quality 15 to play 10?

Presumably we have the following Vacancies next year
Number 8 - Delve likely gone - Leroy Houston? over in bordeaux and probably not getting as much time as he'd like in the number 8 jumper given captain Matty Clarke (great bloke) wears 8.
Number 7 - Lipman? to be replaced by Saffy I would assume leaving us with a back row of Saffy, Davidson, Chamberlain, Jones....we'll need to recruit two back rowers either to start or to back up. I will throw out Adam Kleeberger the Canadian. I think he'd be a great value buy as a back up and suits super rugby
10 - Cipriani gone - JOC (James O'Connor) to 10? Lealifano? I personally don't want us to bother with QC (Quade Cooper). we have enough high profile backs at the moment and could spend the money on a few other players. other thoughts?
13 - Mortlock - replaced by Inman but might need another centre back up as Johannson hasn't looked incredible.
Turnstile - Huxley - anyone will do (better)

I think we have two good wingers in Vuna and Mitchell. This is probably gerrard's last year of slotting onto the wing as he'll only get a bit slower. so we probably need another back up winger....i realise i'm looking forward to 2013, but they should obviously start recruiting now.

looking forward to friday. blustery and wet.
HEY HO...LET'S GO

Cooper will move to the Force because he's scared of Pocock

Good riddance to Cipriani. Will go down in Rebel history as one of the worst buys

Just out of interest, have you ever said anything positive about any player who isn't wearing a Force jumper?

You think Cipriani was a really bad buy? Are you serious? An English international in his prime; a known playboy with huge media presence and a point to prove to the RFU is the first signing for a startup S15 team. That's not smart buying?

My view is that Willie Ripia was a bad signing. Cipriani was a marketing wet dream.

I thought the consensus amongst even the most adoring Tahs' fans was that playing 10 was by no means KB (Kurtley Beale)'s finest hour....hence the gradual move outwards and backwards for this gifted player.

Cipriani was nearly sacked last year for staying out till dawn and turning up to training full of p1ss.........and his performances were rubbish

Ripia was farking useless. The Force played better when he was injured

Yes

That's true but he was just out of school

I think it would be interesting to see him there again. It might help his hammies as well

Well as a Sale fan I've got to say that reading this sort of opinion makes me think that Cips may be a good buy, although I'm not totally convinced. If his defence is good enough next season please forward me Muggleton's address for the champers ;)

Oh an Cave Dweller, actually my club are on a bit of an up at them moment. The hope would be that Cips finally comes good while playing for us and we get the fine player that he should have been all along. Worse case is that he gives Nick MacLoud competition that means the Wleshman keeps up his good work.

The most encouraging thing for me is that we are able to attract players of the calibre of Cips, and probably more importantly Richie Grey, to the club. Things are looking up for Sale

SirClive, I wouldn't be too worried, for some reason Cipriani arouses excessive passion amongst some rugby fans. I agree his defence has been at time atrocious, but equally his playmaking and ball distribution have been exciting to watch, and his kicking better than average. He's not been great for the Rebels, but he certainly hasn't been a disaster. And his off-field 'indiscretions' have been trivial crap, majorly blown up, not sure why.

I far prefer to see him feeding JOC (James O'Connor) good ball than JOC (James O'Connor) feeding ball to someone who wont be able to do anything with it. Keep JOC (James O'Connor) at 12!

I'm with you Moses. I'm certain that when he initially signed with the Rebels, KB (Kurtley Beale) talked about the opportunity to play at 10 more. I'd say f**k that. Play there ALL THE TIME. I don't think KB (Kurtley Beale) does well just filling in there. He needs to train, practice and play as the 1st choice first-five.

I wonder if the Tahs might actually have a Super Rugby title right now if he didn't get injured.......
