I am a Cooper fan, but I don't think he was particularly brilliant. Did his role fairly well, kicked well, passed OK, scored a nice try. It was hardly a compelling 'pick me' game, but it was a good solid contribution to a 15 man effort.
I reckon that's why it was such a game.
He controlled proceedings on what I saw - mind you Genia was back to top form, which helps.
Interesting that crowd didn't seem to be into him.

Isn't that one of the core things you want from a fly half? You don't want a fly half who does everything himself, you want a bloke that facilitates a team's attack. He did that very well if you ask me. The team was playing to a well constructed game plan and they executed it. You really can't ask for much more than that.

It's far more than JOC (James O'Connor) has ever done at 10, that's for sure.

Next week is the game that will be the "pick me" game either way. No point really getting into till after then. What i will say is that genia and cooper are a formidable team, when you watch them live, they do quite a lot off the ball to make room for eachother.

A rubbishy, unqualified nothing statement with no evidence to support it. JOC (James O'Connor) has had plenty of good games for the Rebels at 10, and even a couple in gold.

I made a simple comment about Cooper, had nothing to do with JOC (James O'Connor), Kurtley, Robbie or Henry Parkes, the Father of Federation.

True. It wasn't a criticism of Cooper's performance at all. I will say it wasn't an obvious 'wow, make that man a Wallaby' performance- guys like To'omua and FOley play like that most weeks. Again not a criticism, it was a good solid game.

And yet all three were not selected for the 'camp' being held this weekend. Speaks of a broken system, more than a broken player.

But lets not turn this into the 'ARU/Deans conspiracy against Quade or Player X'. I am more than satisfied with the win, and I am really looking forward to next week.

Great game of rugby, I can watch Reds vs Chiefs every week for the whole season, turn it on everytime.

Shatz, Gill and the whole tight 5 were immense. They won us that game. Hanson and Shatz showing Deans they should have been in that squad.

Quade was OK, I didn't think he did anything special.

On another note, Richard Kahui, holy shit doesn't he look in form. I think he almost killed Tapuai.

Wow, saw result. What a win for the Reds and good to see Cooper responded well to not being selected. Looking forward to watching replay.

TOCC Kahui is good enough to displace Smith but he's never had a clear run at it (IMO)

Osbourne made 4 linebreaks, Kahui made 3.... between them the counted for 7 out of the 8 line breaks which is an awesome performance against the Reds defence

Very good Reds performance. The Chiefs must have made more errors in that game than the rest of their season combined, their decision making at times was appalling, butchering several attacking chances in each half, although more than a bit of that was down to defensive pressure from the Reds. The Chiefs had enough ball and field position to win twice over, but the Reds wouldn't have any of it. The Reds stuck to their plan well, and it was pretty no-nonsense with highly effective breakdown work and a good field position kicking game from Genia and Cooper. They seized their chances well.
Cooper was pretty good, few errors, but mostly solid and did much of what he had to do very well. As good a MOM as anyone, I guess, although he didn't stand out - they all played pretty well.
