The element of the game that baffled me was us persisting with an expensive game, when we were making so many metres punching it up just off the ruck.

It;s especially confusing to have done that with Vaea on the field, as he is our most effective runner in the tight, and he isn't fit enough yet to play expansively.

I actually missed the last few minutes but had no major complaints against Walsh, but what was going on at the start of the game with the Chiefs entering the ruck from behind Nic White? It happened once again a little later and he waved it away but I missed the reason?

Scott Sio was immense.

Scott Sio was immense.

I don't think the Brumbies needed a humbling loss - they played good footy 2 weeks on the trot - set piece solid, good kicking game, expansive when needed and White is just picking and passing so crisp ball is the order. Plus, his kicking decision-making has been pretty much spot on so far. I thought the Brumbies covered Pocock's absence very solidly. Speight was very dynamic, after being a bit quiet last week, I thought. He looked scary when he ran it back last night. Both teams last night looked bloody sharp and would have done any others in the comp in my opinion.
Walsh was OK - most people seem to dislike him for his personality, but I think he refs well. The Kiwi comms couldn't stop whining about him, mainly to the effect that they didn't want to hear his voice, so it seems personal for some reason - they couldn't seem to come up with any technical reasons they didn't like him. Brumbies a little stiffed on the last penalty, which seemed correct, but had not been called at all throughout the match, and happens in about 50% of scrums I watch.
Apart from Sio missing a tackle in the first Chiefs try, he had an excellent game, I agree. I think he'll be important later this year.

I felt like the Brumbies just took the foot off the pedal a bit in those last 15 minutes, especially in the forwards. Chiefs started getting on top physically and in the end they deserved the win.

Really missed David Pocock out there, but I have to say I was really impressed with Jordan Smiler's work off the bench. Rory Arnold had a good game as well.

Yeah I was a bit skeptical of Arnold before the start of the season as what I'd seen I wasn't overly impressed with. Needless to say he's been pretty good over the last two weeks and Smiler seems to be getting stronger and stronger.

Disappointed we didn't get to see a bit more of Doyle aside from his slip up at the end. By all accounts he killed it in last week's runner's match.

Will be interesting to see how both the Brumbies and Rebels pull up after pretty fierce matches. Next week's game should be a cracker.

Brumbies scrum was solid...Nice works lads... Arnold is an certainly an asset shook up the chiefs, well done...

Chiefs came home strong just like the ABs, Brumbies really needed to see the sign early and step up... just prior the Chiefs looked worried and dead on their feet it was time to put them away then...

Message to young Doyle don't worry about the 80 min penalty learn and move you have penny to offer the brumbies...

Looking forward to seeing Pocock back on deck... And Matt To'omua just gets better and better... Lealiifano at his best brilliant best agian...

Thought the scrum was very good up against a strong Chiefs pack and did well to earn a few penalties out of it.

The defence needed to be better against a very good counter attacking side that tore shreds at times, the Ngatai try for one and another time later in the first half.

The Chiefs were heavily penalised early and the Brumbies needed to take better advantage of those opportunities, especially playing away. The option of kicking to touch and then using the driving maul worked well last week but less so this week against a well organised Chiefs defence. Yes, they scored one for Vaea's try but there could have been more.

Lineout needs a few tweaks. One attacking lineout was overthrown and the last one where Carter knocked on standout.

Thought Walsh was down on his performance but not the reason they lost. A few calls that could have gone either way - Tomane being held back early on that I've seen given in the past and the Arnold diving on the ball after it came out of the ruck are two examples.

Overall, it was a good game between good sides that should be in the finals.

I thought it was a bloody good game of rugby myself, couple of quality teams early in season still giving us a good hard game. For Brumbies thought Sio continued to show his ability, and Coleman reaffirmed what I said last week, a good player who gives it all. Chiefs would of been bloody pleased with Charlie Ngati, and young Lowe at 15 or wing always impresses. Good to see Messam back out there , whole pack went good though as did Brumbies.

So the Brumbies player had gone to ground but not been tackled from a technical sense (no defender had gone to ground with him and he wasn't held) so technically he could have got up and kept going.

For that reason there was no ruck formed and no offside line.

Brumbies unlucky in this one. I hope the refs catch onto the cheifs being offside so much. With that many repeated offsides someone should of been sent off and Ben T arguably could of gone for his hands in the ruck.

Just watched a replay, and that is just not right. Fardy took the kick-off and was tackled by Hosea Gear who went to ground with Fardy and really made no attempt to get away from the tackle. A ruck may not have formed, but once there is a tackle, there is an off side line and Hika Elliott was way off side entering the back of the tackle area from the Brumbies'side. Refs need to sharpen up.

Not saying that you agreed with the ruling, just that the ruling itself was wrong. Hence my call for refs to sharpen up. That in fact was the first play of the game and probably set the scene for Hika to play off side as the game proceeded. He was a serial offender last week.
