Great showing from Korzcyk, looks to have a big future, though it doesn't really help our backrow balance. Gill had another great game and scrum was excellent, Holmes has got to be on the plane to England. Horwill looked to be playing very carefully.
Attack was generally woeful again, took some O'Connor magic to make both tries happen. He hasn't had much chance to show his ability this year but touches like those make him hard to ignore come wallaby time. Pity about the place kicking having gone down hill.
All in all it was actually a decent result from the SA tour, most sides would be happy to come away with a win and a bp. I'd really love to have seen what a half decent coach could've done with this squad.

Master stroke by Graham. He's finally devised a game plan that he can coach too. Make the boys play absolutely no footy. Completely removed our total lack of attacking ability from the picture. Also makes sure that we don't get bothered too much by too much quick ball again. Genius.

Yeah - enjoyed the win, but not really enjoying watching us either kick the ball, or try and put it through the hands 20 minutes behind the gain line. I'm not sure if I remember a single time that we changed an angle in attack. It would really be unfair on the young talent in the team if they didn't get to show their wares under in a decent attacking structure.
I did enjoy the scrums though.

I saw most of the second half. South Africa is a very tough place to play in anytime, that we put ourselves in a position to win should not be undersold.
This win was built off the back of the players giving everything and they should be proud of the effort. It also helped the Cheetahs missed from right in front at full time.

It was a pretty solid performance from the pack, 1-8 and including the reserves.
They played with an eye to territory which to be fair was the right way to get an away win over the Cheetahs with that back line. Set piece was great.
Genia played as well as he has for a while which means he was still inconsistent/hesitant and the referee was telling him to use it about 5 seconds after I was from the couch, over and over.
In the backs JOC (James O'Connor) came alive in the second half to convert phases and territory into points, and Kerevi consistently caused problems for the Cheetahs.
Frisby kicked well and looked solid, but was pretty deep and has hardly gelled with Genia.

I am hesitant to criticise a plan that was ultimately successful, however I struggled to come to grips with a gameplay that gave as much possession as possible to a team that is known for consistently scoring a lot of points, whilst our own team has an abominable defensive record (and arguably one of the most laughable defensive structures found in any form of rugby). It just seemed like an awfully high risk strategy - give the ball to a team that can score lots of tries from anywhere and rely on a defensive structure that has leaked points all year. Crazy to me - but it won the chocolates, so kudos RG.
Liam Gill played well, as did Kerevi and Simmons. Kicking was a concern, however both Hunt and Frisby did repeatedly relieve pressure going for the big ones so probably not quite as bad as what I originally thought.
Cheetahs will be disappointed as they were quite sloppy for a lot of the game.

Yep really. I've been a Reds supporter for a bloody long time. I don't support them because they win and that's not all I'm in it for. I simply don't understand the mindset that winning is everything and it doesn't matter how you get a win. Most importantly, while that mindset may jag you the odd game, I think a team that adopts that philosophy will ultimately be mediocre at best. It's not a long term plan for success.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we won a game in SA, I'm happy we're not last on the ladder and I think the guys really put in but I'm not happy with how we went about our footy. But most importantly I'm not happy with why we had to play like that.
