Maybe the idea was to avoid giving ref a chance to ping them for kickable penalties. The Reds should kick the ball away more , such a good game plan.
Might not work out so great against the Hurricanes next weekend.

That was one of the most un-Reds like games I've seen. Would rather we had lost and played some Rugby than win by doing that.
A win is a win is a win. Especially when you have been on a long losing streak.

I am hesitant to criticise a plan that was ultimately successful, however I struggled to come to grips with a gameplay that gave as much possession as possible to a team that is known for consistently scoring a lot of points, whilst our own team has an abominable defensive record (and arguably one of the most laughable defensive structures found in any form of rugby). It just seemed like an awfully high risk strategy - give the ball to a team that can score lots of tries from anywhere and rely on a defensive structure that has leaked points all year. Crazy to me - but it won the chocolates, so kudos RG.They played with an eye to territory which to be fair was the right way to get an away win over the Cheetahs with that back line. .
Yep really. I've been a Reds supporter for a bloody long time. I don't support them because they win and that's not all I'm in it for. I simply don't understand the mindset that winning is everything and it doesn't matter how you get a win. Most importantly, while that mindset may jag you the odd game, I think a team that adopts that philosophy will ultimately be mediocre at best. It's not a long term plan for success.really ?
