This weekend start the Reds real test. After been written off after round 1 they sure show their mettle and have come back nicely. You dont know what to expect from both teams and surely a make or break match for the Tin Ears. They just have to win this one to keep their hopes alive and you cant expect another Highlanders slipup from them. They look pretty solid in defense against the Stormers this weekend. Viljoen and Mapoe is out injured for this match and will be replaced by Ashley Johnson and Demas. Should be a cracker game for the two scrummies, Genia and Pretorius.

Re: Tin Ears vs Reds

If the same Reds that took on the Force turn up to play than I reckon the Reds will win. But we all know that this will be a struggle.

Hmm the main reason why I would tip the Reds is because of the Mckenzie factor.

The Reds will snot them.

They have excellent attack and will match up in the set piece.

Without Brussow (and his backup also looks crock), Braid will be a menace.

Reds by 20+

The Cheetahs were up for it in Cape Town. A week later with jetlag and in Brisbane? No sir.

The Cheetahs are also without a couple of other Rrussow and de Villiers. While Scholtz is battling injury.

While the easy beat tag placed on them by Naka Drorske has deligted link.

Should be an entertaining game.

Its in Osfontein. Total different story and Brussouws backup is Hendro Scotlz, Viljoen is crocked and will be replace by Ashley Johnson.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Reds backs this week. You would assume that Morahan has done enough to lock down one wing so it will be interesting who is not in the 22 out of Davies and Brando. Lucas will be back up 9, you would assume Tapuai would be the backup inside back, and Chambers the back up outside back. Brando would have to feel hard done by if he were dropped - however Davies early season form was so strong that he has a strong case to be put straight back into the run on XV.

Personally I would love to see a back three of Morahan, Hynes, Davies.

The Cheetahs have been better than I thought they would be this year but they have a lot of injuries. One of the Cheetahs' staff suited up last weekend.

The negatives for the Reds are playing at altitude and playing in the RSA itself.

They should win but a few of the young fellows may be affected by the strangeness of it all.

I think the Reds will go well on the hard fast turf of SAFA land. Furthermore, Genia and Cooper are good kickers so that'll work nicely at altitude.

I think Lucas will cover 9 and 10 and therefore it could come down to Taps, Davies or Brando

Easy, drop Va'alu. He didn't touch the ball once against the Force, which is crazy considering the amount of tries that were put on. He can't inject himself into a game like good wingers can. His defence is decent however.

I can't help but think that every game for the Reds is a banana skin game for them. We know they have what it takes but now the anxious wait is on to see if they deliver it. We all have our opinions on this but I am interested to see if Weeks starts. I ma looking forward to the head to head battle between Higgers and Juan Smith.

Go and get them boys.

This is one of those games that makes me nervous with the Reds, in my eyes it was a game I'd sought of penciled in a "W" but away from home & so many young blokes I'm still worried it might go belly up.

It was nice to hear that the cheetahs have basically written off the Reds & put themselves in for a 5point bonus win.

Thats a bit of a surprise, qoute?

Tin Ear team for saturday
Cheetahs:

15 Riaan Viljoen, 14 Danwel Demas, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 Jongi Nokwe, 10 Naas Olivier, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Ashley Johnson, 7 Juan Smith (c), 6 Hendro Scholtz, 5 Waltie Vermeulen, 4 Nico Breedt, 3 WP Nel, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Wian du Preez

Bench: 16 Skipper Badenhorst, 17 Coenie Oosthuizen, 18 Barend Pieterse, 19 Kabamba Floors, 20 Tewis de Bruyn, 21 Corné Uys, 22 Wilmaure Louw

Talking about impressive SA youngsters, I like the look of the LH bench fatty from Grey, Coenie Oosthuizen, watch this one he look like a future Bok player, also Waltie Vermeulen youngster lock.

In terms of the Juan Smith V Higgers battle. It will be a good learning curve for higgers and it will help him and us gage his improvement from last year..

for all the punters out there, the Reds will win this and if you are confident of them making the top 4 on the back of a good SA tour get your money on them now - because if they knock off the Cheetahs there odds are going to halve themselves.

Oh fark me sorry it's in Bloemfontein, home of the OS.

In that case the Cheetahs have a good chance. Team actually doesn't look half bad.

The Reds 9/10/12 combo looks like the danger part from the Reds. Naas Olivier / Bosman the Tin Ears defensive weakest link. If the Tin Ears can patch that up they'll be fine. They show some real passion against the Stormers and their forward play problaby the best I saw against the Stormers thus far. The way they bash our rolling maul was impressive and their lineout and scrums more the average. But then they are the Tin Ears and you simply dont know which team will pitch.

I seem to recall Boman missed the most tackles of any player in last year's S14.

Have to go with the Reds regardless of what team is selected. I think the last start team will be the go, with Davies eased off the bench.

Should be a physical encounter but hopefully enough space for the backs to do their thing.
