Obviously it's shit for those without Foxtel that the game wasn't shown live and we can, and should, push this point with the 9 Network.

That being YOU could have gone to your local with your mates, ordered a parma, and enjoyed the game of rugby at a decent hour. The issue of 9 not showing it is a speed hump for fans, not a stop sign.

The bigger issue is not for fans like us but more for lay people who won't come across our game channel surfing and give it a crack.

says the student. What about those with family commitments? I couldn't just dump the kids outside the casino and pop in for a watch on the big screen. Instead I reverted to radio. On a sidepoint, thought Craig Mitchell (think it was him) was an excellent analyst of the game. No holds barred. Very good.

Come on Reg, if you roll the windows down a crack they can survive for hours. Give them a good book and they might enjoy it, or some sort of rattle for the younger ones...

Fair point but surely you could negotiate a bargain with your special someone.

Give them your iphone/ipad, tune it to spongebob and you're set.

They let kids into pubs now?

That's not my problem though... I don't have time for the pub after work on Tuesdsy when I have responsibilities at home...

Reg beat me to it... That's what happens when you leave a page opened fOr way too long before responding...

Also, if I have to go tithe pub that means more money I don't want to spend, particularly as beer is overpriced in Melbourne...

I do it for the Brumbies every week but I shouldn't have to for tests as well...

The ratings figures for last night are out. Nine won the night with 27.4% share and the Diamond Jubilee concert average viewing figure over the three hours it was on was 1.124 million in the five metropolitan areas. The Wallabies test match was the highest rating pay TV programme with a national audience of 310,000.

I have Foxtel, yet I still go to the pub (most of the time) to watch most games, I enjoy the camaraderie & atmosphere.

Most of you guys obviously recognize that the game needs FTA coverage in order to reach: known fans, sports lovers and the general public.

It's pretty simple, every Australian should have the right to watch their national team compete LIVE on FTA TV, with the best means available. By best means, I'm referring to digital television.

You're right. It should be enshrined in the Constitution along with not getting charged extra for tomato sauce when purchasing a meat pie ;)

With all these extra digital channels its a joke that we don't have major sports with major games and the main comps with more FTA coverage.

Rugby shouldn't take Channel Nine's snub of the RWC and the Scotland test personally, they're just hopeless for all sports:

TENNIS fans wanting to catch the gripping conclusion of the rain delayed French Open Tennis final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic had better find a friend with pay-TV after the Nine Network revealed it will not screen the conclusion of the match tonight.

Fox Sports will carry the delicately poised match live from 9pm tonight, however a spokesman for the Nine Network said its shared rights with Fox did not extend to tonight and the network was not willing to negotiate a one off deal to carry "half a final".

Nine has chosen to prioritise the high rating reality show The Voice over its coverage of the French Open.

The spokesman said Nine would have considered paying for a broadcast extension if an Australian was in the final.

The match was suspended with the scores finely balanced and Nadal leading two sets to one over a surging Djokovic.

Djokovic is seeking to make history by becoming the first man in 43 years to win four consecutive Grand Slam titles while Nadal is attempting to become the first man to win seven titles at the tournament.

The network said it would run a highlights package at a time to be determined.

That's really not 9's fault
I believe it is their fault. They love to hide behind 'red tape'. They could have negotiated with Fox at the start of the contract to include rain delays, but they don't want to. Its tennis there are usually rain delays.

They don't care for sport they care for content. They justed wanted the tennis to fit a certain time frame. Now that time frame is over they dont want the tennis, plus they didn't have time to sell more prime advertising tonight in the tennis. Tonight they have the content 'The Voice'. They treat sports fans with absolute contempt.
