15. Donaldson (W)
This team could genuinely work. Hardaker (W) is the only player I have never seen play before, however I am going off both everyones word & the fact I saw Flaherty (A) play well out of position at 13 last year.
I also know that Donaldson (W) is a class 10, as is Woodcock (K), & I think both should be included somewhere in the 1's side. The comment made about CAS 2s players still having the potential to make higher honours is not correct. Last year CAS defeated GPS in the 2s, & if my memory is correct, 2 players from that team made the NSW SHADOW squad compared to 6 from the losing GPS 2s side, who made STARTING NSW sides
Also, the comment suggesting the Waves 9, 10 & 12 deserve selection for CAS 1s & anything else occurring is rugby politics is ridiculous. How would it be political not to choose such players when they are perceived as the strongest team in the competition- Consistently talented players from weaker sides miss selection as opposed to stronger teams. For example, Slaven from Aloys last year missed selection for CAS 1s in 2016 to the Waverley winger who was not Yoannadis, (sorry, forgot his name) after making the CAS 1s side in 2015 on the wing. He was consistently there best player all year & undoubtedly deserved selection somewhere in that 1s side.
Yes, I know Waverley had players playing out of position last weekend and this affected their flow & backline momentum, however their strength, both from what I saw and have heard all year, was their tireless & powerful forward pack- as far as their backs were concerned, I would say the game was a far more even affair, with Aloys playing well to stay in touch for a large portion of the game.
