Peter Burge (5)
back in September last year I drafted a CAS side;

1. Wright (W) / Dawson (K)
2. Coghill (B)
3. Rahme (A) / Cutrone (K)
4. Frost (K) / Flaherty (B)
5. Moretti (W)
6. Reimer (B)
7. Stead (T) / Partington (A) / Cornish (W)
8.
9. Tejeck (B)
10. Woodcock (K) / Donaldson (W)
11. Lloyd (B)
12. Flaherty (A)
13.
14. Hollingsworth-Descent (T)
15.

My guess now has hardly changed at all;

1. Wright (W)
2. Rahme (A)
3. Cutrone (K)
4. Frost (K)
5. Moretti (W)
6. Reimer (B)
7. Stead (T)
8. Cornish (W)
9. Tejeck (B)
10. Woodcock (K)
11. Lloyd (B)
12. Flaherty (A)
13. Hardaker (W)
14. Hollingsworth-Descent (T)
15.
Pavlakis (K) at 15 is a must

Some very tragic news for the schoolboy rugby community today. The rugby player that died today at Warringah was Lachie Ward, a former Barker College student from 2009. To his parents and all his family, our condolences from all those here at Green & Gold.

Rod, we were at the 14s rep games this weekend at Orange.

We all heard this tragic news, and we all stopped at many games for a minutes silence, it upset us all. VERY sad.

Obstruction,

If politics prevails, which it often does, then you may be right.

But if results and watching games against the top notch GPS school teams actually counts, then the following must happen.

I won't touch the forward pack but the backs is way off.

The 9,10 and 12 MUST come from the Waverley team, for combination and putting 50+ on the major GPS schools.

Bell (9)/Donaldson (10)/Hardaker (10).

Anything else is a joke.

IE If the CAS really does want to beat the GPS, this year.

4. Frost (K)
5. Moretti (W)
6. Cornish (W)
7. Stead (T)
8. Reimer (B)
9. Tejeck (B) or Bell (W)
10. Donaldson (W)
11. Lloyd (B)
12. Hardaker (W)

My CAS 1st XV follows:

1. Wright (W)
2. Rahme (A)
3. Cutrone (K)
4. Frost (K)
5. Humphrey (K)
6. Reimer (B)
7. Stead (T)
8. Cornish (W)
9. Bell (W)
10. Woodcock (K)
11. Lloyd (B)
12. Donaldson (W)
13. Hardaker (W)
14. Hollingsworth-Descent (T)
15. Pavlakis (K)

That would make it
5 x Waverley (3 x backs)
5 x Knox (3 x forwards)
2 x Barker
2 x Trinity
1 x Aloys

Cranbrook will have several in CAS II's

The big five for Waverley would be:

Wright
Moretti
Cornish
Donaldson
Hardaker

Those five are the reason Waverley have travelled so well. They need to be in that CAS 1sts team somewhere for CAS to have the best chance for success.

The same way The big players from Knox are

Frost
Cutrone
Woodcock
Pavlakis

They have to sit in that CAS team somewhere as well. Can woodcock play 12? I think Donaldson has shown the potential to not only play CAS 10, but higher in the games I have seen this year. His showing against Joeys should have earned him a CAS firsts jersey alone.

SDW,

Yep. All but fullback agree, I think Bell should be there.

Michaelhooper,

So no room for Luca Moretti in the CAS 1'S?

A name I will throw in the mix from left field is Simon Marais. He is currently Barker 2nds but played in 1sts last year. He has size speed and skills and has had a cracking year scoring plenty of tries... would certainly not be out of place in either CAS1s or 2s.

Moretti will be in there somewhere no question. I think it's a risk to play Woodcock at 12, when Hardaker has apparently been so good there against GPS opposition. I haven't seen Donaldson this season, but can see the logic in trying to preserve the combination he has with Hardaker. With Woodcock also playing well at 10, it's a tough one for selectors.

What position Rod?

Winger... 6 ft 2 and 90kg with speed and excellent positional play. He will be vying with Hollingsworth-Dessent for the other wing spot after Lloyd

A smokey for firsts could be Harvison (K). A strong, strapping backrower that could be a benefit in the CAS firsts team.

I know people rate Stead as well, but I could see him or even possibly Garing (K) slotting into the backrow for the CAS team instead of Stead.

Humphrey has also been a true workhorse for Knox too, I think they could easily slot him into the second row and leave Moretti in the backrow. That would likely push Stead out as well though.

I'm glad I'm not selecting the team! Some tough choices!!

I'm just surprised people keep easily picking Wright over Dawson. I know wright is good, but Dawson is easily one of our best players this year. A great scrummager and good work rate. I think he will challenge Wright for his spot and in fact, wasn't he selected in front of Wright last year?

I'm just saying it will be closer than people are suggesting. Not trying to cause trouble.

CnP,

I understand your view on Woodcock, but at 10 Donaldson has been sensational not only at putting on and scoring tries, captaining the team and kicking brilliantly, he has a very impressive footy brain.

Hardaker is a 1 in 10 year talent, the best IC I have seen for many a year, so parting them?

Trying to squeeze someone else in between, IMO, is political, but CAS 2 is there to be had, and if v.good, then all good for the NSW selections.

Why aren't they playing him in firsts?

I guess the selectors have a nice problem on their hands, but am I right in saying you haven't seen Finn Wright this year?

He is very much like his uncle, Owen Finnegan (you may remember a wallaby forward who the all blacks really feared) same gig here, he has ball skills as well as an ability to break apart another pack, off the paddock a truly nice/polite boy, but on the paddock, goes ok!

The CAS 2s will be a good side

Come on guys lets have your CAS 2s as well as your 1s. You have some talent going around and some nice selection headaches.

Both teams will be showcased for NSW and CS selection, so would be good to see who others rate.

I believe Donaldson would be in front of Woodcock at this point on form based on the limited matches I have seen. I think you have your CAS 1s and 2s 5/8s between them. But some of the CAS backline combinations could make a startling difference to how some players perform with different service.

Just on the debate on Wright V Dawson. You often measure the value of a player by the impact when they are NOT on the field. The Waverley set piece looks a lot more vulnerable with Wright off the field. I havent noticed the same with Dawson and Knox IMHO.
