I disagree with this, this year barker have not been up there with Knox and Waverley. Now for 2018 Aloysius will not be a strong competitor and with the Waverley 16s who are quite weak coming through that won't give the Waverley side a lot of depth. Cranbrook 16s coming through are quite strong which will help so it would be good to see what they can do for the year 11 cranbrook boys who are just terrible. I believe Knox will take the premiership next year, strong year 11s and strong 16s coming through
Barker beat Knox and lost to Waverley by 1. They have been up there. With 8 back, they are the team to beat. The likes of Reimer, Flaherty, Pollard, Kitchener will Be some of their strongest players since the 2010- 2013 Barker dominant era.
The Waverley team left over next year is their undefeated 16a's that beat Knox by 50 twice in 2016. Their year 12's will be very strong. (Moretti, Murphy, Molloy, Whiteman, Andrews, Tomasiello, Baldwin, Towns)
Knox will be the weakest they have been for three years, McInerny at 10, Trobec in the backrow. No set piece dominance that they have relied on for years. Cameron will be their best attacking weapon and he has struggled to make a mark this year. Their u16's are strong, but their year 12 group is weak. The best player in the team will be Kennedy, it's hard to build a game around a hooker. 2018 will be more of a rebuild for Knox.
Aloysius will be the strongest they have been since 2015. Their u16's last year were second only to Waverley. They have a 2, 7, 10 and dominant 12 to build the team around them. Westbury will be CAS 15, Rahme is a CAS backrower, pollack and Disano are genuine players.
Cranbrook may have one good year, but the other schools have lots of good years around their years to make them much more difficult to defeat. Can those good u16 Cranbrook players from this year, beat a Waverley team that will have 5 back from the firsts and nearly the whole seconds team that has won the comp? Unlikely.
Can they beat a Barker outfit with 8 firsts players back? Not a chance.
