Yes agree. He should be the one of the wingers.

Doesn't look far off, Up The Bunnies, but I wonder whether Jordan (W) might not pinch the 9 jersey and it will be hard to keep Longville (T) from the 15 spot. Woodcock (K) will be a contender for 10.

Hey there Snort, in regards to Longville (T) and Stocks (K), i defiantly think Stocks will make it, watched him on the weekend, played a great game, with great kick returns and scoring a great try. At worst i think he should be moved to the wing.

Harrison Stewart had a great game against Aloys scoring 3 tries. But i believe there are better options for those position (fullback/wing) such as H. stocks (K) J. Mohi (W) J. Joannidis (W) and Longville (T) all these players have played more consistent through out the 3 rounds. it would be interesting to see how Harrison plays for the next couple of rounds, but at the moment i would pick out of those 4 for the position.

I'd have P .Clifton from Waverley at 4.Frost gives the height you need and Cliftons work rate, defence and speed give him the edge.NO.7 Stead for trinity is playing very well after a couple of years of injury and should be in the mix.Jordan for Waverley was solid against Knox after a brilliant game against Trinity and shouldn't be far from a start.Apart from that looks good.

From what I've seen of Aloys games the last few weeks, for Dainton to make this side he will need to be doing a lot of work on his fitness. He has started each game on fire and really looks the goods but mid way through the first half he has gone missing in action and has struggled to keep up with the play. I hear he has struggled with injuries over the past few years and has not seen a whole lot of game time, and it certainly looks that way.
I think the whole team seems to look underdone in the fitness department. Given they are always going to struggle with size they are going to need to be fitter than their bigger opposition to ensure they are still in the game for the duration.

I would not be using the score V Aloys as a form guide for the Trinity backs. Aloys really had very little to offer in the way of defence in the 2nd half after a lot of injuries and they made them look better than they were.

I do like the look of the Aloys No2 and No 6. Nothing flashy but they get through plenty of work on and around the ball.

From what I've seen so far, and even though Morris is a good player, I'd have Fuller at 12 because he's more creative with the ball in hand. His ability to draw in defenders and offload creates space for his outside men. He's the most skillful ball player at 12 I've seen so far.
Armstrong is a shoe-in for 13 and Mohi's got the 11 spot sown up. I'd rather see Longville at 15; his anticipation, speed and power is very impressive. For the 14 spot I'd choose either Yoannidis who is a very strong defender and powerful runner or Stocks who is speedy and elusive but i'm not sure about his defence.
The hard working Clifton and tall timber Frost in the second row looks to be a good combination.
Wayland at 1. Rasch has to be there. Basson would be hard to leave out.
The jury's still out on the 10 spot with doubts about Dainton.
Still two more rounds to go for players to impress.

Regarding the No. 10 debate I am sticking with Woodcock. I watched him in a game last year and he really impressed me. He's a big 10 which shows in his solid defence. Only watched him once this year but my mate from the North told me that the Knox inside backs have not let anything through so-far this season. I guess this is a reflection of Knox's for-and-against results so-far.

I also had a quick squiz at the No. 10 top point scorers:

Woodcock 21 - 2 tries
Dainton 20 - 1 try
Searle 13 - 0 tries
Donalson 3 - 0 tries

So I am sticking with Woodcock. Strong defence & top point scorer so-far this season. Still 2 rounds to go though.

I would also switch Armstrong and Stenmark. I think Stenmark is a better 13 than 12. You want Armstrong with his hands on the ball more often.

Stewart might also be an option for wing.

i reckon this is getting close although not seen Barker play yet.
for 1sts--would put Dainton or Woodcock at 10--best 2 in competition.12 is a tough one--not much between Morris and Fuller,probably favour Fuller ever so slightly unless play someone else there eg Slaven.Would play Stocks at 15 and Longville at 14 as defense can be suspect based on last years rep games.Also need to consider players not being mentioned that played in Aloys 1st last year that came 2nd to Knox eg Mazaraki no 15--played CAS,Hrdina 7/8,Denny 5/6.They are genuine candidates for 2nd's/reserves this year despite Aloys lack of depth across the 15 this year.

All worthwhile ideas - there seem to be about nine certainties for CAS 1sts and some good competition for many spots.

Incidentally, through a quirk of the for-and-against and courtesy of Trinity's second half blowout against St Aloysius, first-placed Knox will face the second placed team (Trinity) for the second week in a row. Mildly amusing aside - Trinity has not chosen this round as its Old Boys reunion day. They like that to be a game Trinity has a decent chance of winning (it will be the next week against Cranbrook). Actually I think Trinity will give a good account of itself but Knox has too much strength across the park. Elsewhere I back Waverley over Cranbrook, but not easily. Aloysius would, I think, beat Barker if at or near full strength but suffered a lot of injuries last week, so this could be the first win for Barker.

Did anyone else catch Cranbrook 2nds against Barker just this last saturday? I usually stick around after my son's games and what caught my eye was this blonde - haired kid who I'd never seen before. Only came on partway through the game and packed into the backrow and was quite good - easily 1sts material. Perhaps we'll him there next week? Anyone know his name?

If your blond haired rough diamond is easily firsts material, then either the Coaches are mad because they think he is thirds/bench seconds material, or he may be on a graduated return to play plan following injury.

What team is your son in @tommulherin9?

Is he inable to shed any light on the name of the mystery player?
When my boys saw a superstar playing in the teams that played after them, they were pretty quick to find out who he was, and if he was new to the club or school, they found out his previous scrapbook as well.

The front row positions will be interesting come selection time. In watching the rep games last year CAS were certainly out muscled in this area and at one stage replaced the entire front row against GPS to try and get some stability at scrum time.
Both Wayland (T) and Anstey (B) were missing last year through injury and hoping they will be fit and ready come game time.They have proven their worth in previous representative fixtures and feel they would be the front runners for the 1 & 3 roles. Grindall (K) would probably the next in line though watching the Joeys video posted on this site there are some real concerns at scrum time which can be worked on.
Which leaves the role of hooker - From discussions above it appears there is no clear front runner and have options across most teams. CAS need a good scrummager, accurate thrower and mobile (much like Horton from GPS last year).
In games I have seen to date my front runners would be from Cranbrook? and Rahme (A), however there will certainly be more putting their hand up. I wasn't overly impressed with the Knox or Waves hookers on the weekend, it was a tough game however there were a lot of errors from both sides at lineout and scrum time, they were not particularly mobile.
I did notice the knox hooker in 2nds and asking around he was touted for firsts at the start of last year however missed the season through injury. He certainly fitted the bill of what i described above ( a couple of tight heads and very good lineout accuracy) and may be a bolter for one of the rep sides. (It has happened before in another side)
Maybe there are other boys out there playing out of position at the moment who could fill this vital role.

Searl played well on Saturday against Barker when he had heaps of time and space to do his thing. I would rank him behind Woodcock and a fit Dainton, but I'd have him on the bench. He's an old-school fly-half who likes to stand fairly deep and direct traffic but does like to run himself occasionally. His tactical kicking is excellent (not so much his goal kicking). I notice that Cranbrook stand him at full back quite a bit in defence, which makes me wonder whether his tackling in the first line might be suspect.

Dainton is the best 10 in the Comp assuming fitness remains, although doesn't have size of Woodcock has a great running game evident with try against Trinity and ultimately his alright ability at 10

If Waverley is to be without a few of their big guns, Cranbrook's hopes are going to lift

He's a decent player! Definitely worthwhile. Good with pass - good D & good on the ball at tackle.
