"Waverley providing security to keep their vocal Old Boys under control

Under the circumstances, I think Knox showed exceptional composure for schoolboys. I may be wrong, however, I don't believe that they were penalised once for foul play. Despite winning 41-0 in a hostile away environment "

A Knox player was yellow carded for one of those reflex high tackles just before full time. But as far the security keeping the old boys under control that is a question of degree - the pack of youths behind the try line sledged for the full game. Several of them had match programs and would look up Knox players names in order to sledge in a more personal manner. At 0-0 Stenning was being implored by the throng to "do something Nick"when he finished off a nice movement by scoring the first try. The best response to sledging is to win the game and keep your dignity. If you lose, keeping your dignity is the next best thing. I was surprised with the cheering the first Waverley player yellow carded received from the grandstand filled with Waverley students. Before I get off my high horse I will report that my son said that the Knox crowd sledging can be very similar.

McKenna (2) or Cooper (8) were my best on-ground yesterday for Waves, and No.8 for Knox. Cooper and McKenna seemed to be the only fowards who were running straight and not drifting across the line constantly. Also, the Knox .15's kicking game was excellent.

Knox's first win at the Valley since 2008, and I was personally disappointed at Waves as they played like they didn't want to be there, and maybe if they had held onto the ball it might not had being to nil. Second XV was a great game and I encourage anyone to watch these fixtures. Waverley were up 22-10 I think and half time and they ended up being held scoreless and lost by the final bell, much more entertaining.

Any thoughts of Wave's No.1 - Finn Wright? In year 10 playing up in the Double V and he probably received his 3rd of 4th yellow card for the season yesterday for a stupid late lifting tackle. He seems probably just a little immature to be playing up if he can't control himself like that. And, just as he comes back on, Cardassilaris (correct spelling for SonnyDill in future) feels that he needs to throw a stupid head-push/punch and is sent for 10 aswell. It's like they're having a competition to see who can get more yellow cards (that would be Zac's 2nd or 3rd card this season aswell).

It's not as if the Waverley players didn't want to be there. I think some of the newbe 1sts players may have been a bit overawed initially; some early dropped ball could have been caused by nerves. But they will be better for the experience. At the end of the day the Double V were outgunned by a bigger and stronger team. I doubt if it will be the last time this season that the Knox team makes an opposing team look ordinary.

Mistakes and penalties cost Waverley dearly. The overall discipline needs to improve.

Knox's 15 Leo Bosch had a very good game. His kicking game was excellent and his quick hands created an overlap to set up the first try. Waverley's 15 Jackson Mohi had a good game as well.

You're right: we can assume that young Finn Wright will be receiving a good talking to from his coaches this week. He's got plenty of talent and courage to be matching with 17-18 year olds, especially as a forward in the front row. That doesn't happen too often, but he's got some maturing to do. If he can control his aggression he will be a gun forward for the next 3 years in the CAS comp.

You must be counting yellow cards from the trials? Otherwise it's 2 for Wright and 1 for Cardassilaris in the comp proper.

The Waves 2nd XV played very well but blew it through giving too many penalties away. They also lost about 4 scrums against the feed as well which didn't help. It was an entertaining game and it may be these two teams that fight it out for the 2nds Premiership.

Every now and then it helps to remember that we're discussing schoolboy rugby here. There's no need to suggest that just because a team lost, they "didn't turn up". It demeans both teams, suggesting that one didn't try and the other didn't earn its success. And why pick on Swinton? He's played a key role in a team that has won its first two games by 89-10.

In 2011 Trinity went unbeaten in ten games and scored a record 474 points in the process. There's a long way to go yet, but Knox could aim to challenge that record, as I still think Waverley is the second-best side in the competition.

Haha the waverley player who picked a fight with captain america ? is a future NRL star and can most likely bench squat deadlift more than this wannabe called captain america

Captain America eats future NRL stars for breakfast (along with his Coco Pops).

He also sings a wonderful rendition of "Custard Pie", as the Old Waverlians at the end of the field will attest to.

Easy enough from blind knox parents talking about sledging from Old Boys, but they don't want to talk about the sledging and baiting from their own boys (ie Swinton). Cardassilaris didn't deserve that yellow. If he get's a yellow for a push and shove after Swinton trying to give it, how should the head high CLOTHESLINE have been given a yellow card as well? In my eyes, you all have no clue and have to stop trying to live your pathetic good old days in the lives of your children. Instead of bitching left right and center on here, get off it and let the boys play some rugby.

Agree re Murphy. Waves 2 tries scored when Knox was down to 14 with yellow card. Otherwise, thought Knox were the dominant side, esp in the backs, and were a bit unlucky not to post 2 more tries down the flanks.

That would be Waverley's first lost in a couple of years in that age. they have some very talented kids in there.

How about waverleys lower A teams . Anyone get any joy? 15as?

Wonder how tadg murphy went in the centres? Kid can play imho

Have to say Knox rugby programme looking pretty dominant

Knox won in a close game 15-12 after being up 15 nill with about 10 to go, i thought Waverley were very strong in that age?

After watching the impressive display from Knox yesterday - the hype about this 'captain america' bloke failed to impress, imho. Sure he is probably the biggest player in the competition but his presence was not made on the field - attacking wise. He was strong in defence but if he wants to be making levels higher than CAS his ball playing needs to improve. Compare him to the likes of Maccas / Summerhayes from brook last year. Yes two different positions but similar in size compared to their team. Maccas and summerhayes were able to consistently break the line and push a solid 10-15m over the advantage line. Swinton should adopt that 'wrecking ball' position and utilise his size such as these two did last year for Cranbrook. No doubt he is a good player but imho again i feel he has a lot more to prove to live up to this 'Captain America' title / Titan of CAS rugby.

This thread is in danger of being closed down if posters don't lift their game and start abiding by Forum Rules.

Leave all the off the field stuff out of it and start talking respectfully about the schoolboys.

If you really feel strongly about the behaviour of one or other groups of students/supporters then perhaps the best method of dealing with that is to take it up with the Sportsmaster or Principal of the School you are associated with.

Enough of the Captain America references.

These are schoolboys, playing schoolboy games, and this is not a schoolboy tittle tattle social media platform.

Geez, I hope this kid doesn't start believing his own publicity ....

They lost their first game last season in the 14As and still won the comp. There's a long way to go.

I didn't see the 15As

However I will be keen to see the return match.

If waves are to beat knox they have to find a way to contain knox's centre Tom Cameron

The kid is playing out of his skin for lindfield
And is one to watch in the future

Maybe that is why they were experimenting with murphy in the backs
