Who's slating him? A couple of people think that what he did at the end was a bit poor, a bit dickish. That's it. You're possibly being a touch over protective.
What, by disagreeing with you? It's just called disagreeing. Nothing more or less.

Please. The Brumbies attack is non-existent, as it has been for large parts of the year and all of last year. One out runners one off the ruck.

could've, would've, should've.
The Tahs couldn't have done more to lose that game and the Brumbies still lost it. They had the ball, they didn't do anything with it.

I've already remarked that the Brumbies failed to finish off moves when in good try scoring positions. Just a couple of examples that come to mind - an attack down the left hand side where Coleman's pass to Moggy on the outside was poor and the ball was knocked on into touch (about 5 - 10 meters from the tryline). Probably would have been a better option to give the ball to Tomane who was following Coleman just on his inside. I'd back Joe to have scored in that situation, assuming of course that the pass was good. A second example was after the bell when Alan A made his charge for the line but the support was too late arriving. Recycled ball there would have put the Tahs under immense pressure.

I think the failure to finish off atm can be attributed to the missing injured players. With White and To'omua (especially) on the field things probably would've (could've, should've) finished differently in this game. But them's the breaks.

I kind of agree with you there BR. Just rewatched the game- Brumbies really missed To'omua out there. But I thought Henry Speight needed to be used a lot more, he barely touched the ball.

The second half was a bit more even than I remember. The Brumbies had the bulk of possession, but never really looked like scoring a try. There were no close calls, no phases 5m or less from the Tahs line. The last play of the game was the closest they got.

The Tahs did really well in the 10 minutes Horne was off the ground, and the Brumbies didn't play smart enough (eg wide enough) to exploit the difference.

David Pocock was easily the Brumbies best, and my MoTM. His running game was really good as well. Hooper the best for the Tahs, I was also impressed by Kepu, Latu (better than TPN?) and Folau, who was the best back on the field- just edged Mogg.

I think last week gave the Brumbies a bit of false confidence in their lineout maul, and they turned down three kickable penalties to go to it. In such a tight game I'm not sure that is the right decision. Skelton's maul defence really is a thing of beauty.

There was no 'a-ha!' moment in this game. It was just a physical stoush, and the Tahs just took their chances that little bit better.

Not sure I agree with that.

When it became clear that the Tahs had the scrum and collision ascendency (early first half), it was always going to be hard for the Brumbies to win a close derby

(there's a big RWC lesson in here for us)

Well I'm not sure the Tahs did have scrum ascendency. Penalty count was about even (2-2 I think) and they never got any huge shoves on.

I actually thought the Brumbies more than held their own and then some at scrum time. The fact they put their winger on the blindside flank of the scrum and still got good clean ball was telling as well.

Brumbies probably should've won it, but Lilo's kicking let his team down once again. His running and defensive game was very good though.

Because Benny A would drop it into the dirt first - fat cat had him on toast

For the whinging from a few Brumbies fans about the ref, I thought this was a part of the match Jackson cried out of and should have been more of an advantage to the Tahs

OK, settle it a bit, please.

haha, NSW vs ACT fans, they hate each other, now i can see why the players almost murdered each other last night. You dont see the Cantabs with deranged bug-eyed axe-murder on the brain in April, too content with guaranteed their AB selection, they mail it in to make sure the bod gets on the plane in October intact. On the minus side, the NSW/ACT players survive that harrowing trial by deth and theyll be tough as fuck come October oh shit

I thought Kepu had JP Smith as well.

I think the Tahs lineout also needs to be recognised as a very under rated aspect coming into the game they managed a turnover and got a couple of not straight throws out of the usually reliable Moore, while they won all but one of their own. Considering they fielded a side with a lock who "can't jump".

I'm not sure, the Brumbies got the shove on just as much as the Tahs. Benny A dropped it a few times, but I didn't think the Tahs were particularly hard done by.

In fact they were lucky, one dominant Brumbies scrum would have been a sure-fire Brumbies penalty had the ball not spilled out the back as they marched forward.

Just on the scrum aspect have a look at the scrums in this game in 1991.

33 seconds from breakdown to scrum being packed and fed. First breakdown at 2.50, scrum is packed but goes down as NFJ has to retrieve the ball. Repacked and ball cleared within 35 seconds from breakdown. Now they can't pack in under a minute.
