I love how punters take the news stories as gospel about the Tahs being out for revenge for the Dublin incident despite all quotes from players denying that it is an issue.

Then to add to that, a couple of Tahs fans on the forum suggest that the Tahs should win and suddenly the Waratahs as a team are overconfident.

The story is being overplayed and it is one very small part of the build up, that does not mean there isn't something small behind it in a few players minds. None of the players in question for the Tahs would ever come out and publicly admit there was an issue. Talk is cheap, a lot will be said on the paddock and it will be interesting to see what plays out.

By the same token, it doesn't mean there is anything behind it.

Revenge for last year's flogging is far more likely to be a motivating factor.

You could write a story suggesting that the Tahs are out to get Mowen for leaving the Tahs a couple of years ago.

Or that Dennis is out to get Fardy for taking his Wallabies 6 jersey.

Robinson is out to get Alexander for rucking him last year.

That Betham is out for revenge after the Brumbies let him go earlier in his career.

Or Hoiles looking for revenge against the team that had to let him go due to injury (this is getting a fair bit of a run).

There are so many possible stories you can write that don't need a shred of proof to back them up. They ask the player directly if it's a factor and they deny it outright so it becomes the player being tight lipped but secretly that's their motivation.

Old legs AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to front up against up and comer Kuridrani... should be a good match up... brumbies shaped up pretty well against the canes... This is Always a good match in teh capital but Brumbies by +5 at home... White and To'omua's kicking game will frustrate the Tahs... Brums halves will have it all over the Tahs...

This is an interesting one. The bye could be a positive or negative for the Waratahs as a lot of teams over the years have been very flat in their first game back. After the Brumbies' first game, which they played like a team coming off a bye, the improvement in play has been noticeable. I agree that the Brumbies game plan will be to utilise the strength of the lineout and the playing for territory strategy will need to be modified to minimise the risk posed by the back three.

We are playing that afternoon in a charity match against the RAAF Mirages before heading out to the stadium. If you see some battered and bruised older guys, you'll know who they are.

White's and Moggs kicking game has been a bit off lately. To'omua's not bad though. If their kicking boots are on, both goal kicking and general play then I think your right Brumbies +5. If there kicking is off then we might be in trouble.

Yeah I would rather be in the brumbies position than coming off a bye, despite tahs good previous form.

I don't think the Brums are kicking it as much as last year. Running from deep seems more common.

Surely it was never Dennis's to begin with?

I was merely coming up with bullshit issues that journalists can turn into an article.

Dennis played 6 for the Wallabies (albeit after there had been injuries) during 2012 and 2013 before Fardy played any tests at 6 so yes, on that basis I think you could make that argument.

Of course Dennis never had a mortgage over the 6 jersey.

there will be better and bigger fireworks at the game.
can't imagine going to a fireworks display over this game. to each their own.

I think ther will be fire works... I'm also guessing Bernie wont release teh Brumbies team until late thursday??? for a little gamesmenship...

Surely the starting XV will be the same as against the Hurricanes assuming there weren't any injuries.

I don't think there's much mystery about who will or should play.

I'd argue that any surprise selections would be good for the Tahs because it would be a weaker team.

I'm glad to actually Palu doing something this year - had to be one of the most overrated forwards last year- especially in the Wallabies games
