Brumbies v Reds Rd 14 Sat 17th May @ GIO Stadium 7.35pm AEST

Vest.... useless as always.

Immese defence by the Brumbies in that first half. Really need some backs to return so we can have more options to cause defence to second guess what's going on.

Brums recovered in the second half and took ruthless advantage of Paisami's sinbinning. Interesting to see Ikitau niggling him at one stage late in the first half, potentially a plan from the Brums and they definitely gor under his skin. Len seemed to land a pretty good shot on him late in the game for good measure.

Injuries obviously told for Qld, too many starters out and they were unable to stress the Brumbies d despite plenty of willing carries from their pack. McDermott was a constant threat but his service hurt them at key moments. Was impressed with Nongoor though, and he may have a role to play if AAA is no good. McReight outstanding, probably man of the match

Valetini outstanding for Brums, multiple breakdown turnovers to go with his usual big carrying load. Thought Ryan Lonergan was excellent too with some big scrambling defensive efforts.

Very good game to watch, especially as a Wallabies fan. It was a game where the capped players really stood out, there was a distinct difference in class between some of the players:

- Ikitau was impervious, dunno why the Reds ever run it at him, not going to get any change.
- Valetini and McReight put in their usual incredible games.
- Ala'alatoa is in great vintage.
- Pollard was really strong in contact, more punch than I realise.
- Wright looked more assured.
- McDermott and Daugunu were always threatening.

On the negative, Paisami can’t be Wallabies centre. He’s too lightweight. Also Campbell had a bit of a ‘mare.

I was impressed by the Reds handling in their backline, rarely grassed it doing some complicated stuff with a lot of new people. Looked slick, shame didn’t get more rewards. Kudos to the Brumbies defence.

You can see how important Canham is to the Reds too, almost a 2nd receiver at times.

The reds have some seriously talented young props on their hands in Nonggorr and De Lutiis. Really promising.

and Anderson had a surprisingly good game, didn’t know he was so good in their air.
