Well done to the Brums for winning, but jeez it could have been a lot more convincing. They dominated territory and possession for long periods in that game and didn't reward themselves with points. What I noticed was how slow the game was in open play. There were a number of times when a break would be made and the supporting players looked like they were running up and down on the spot. I also thought that the Canes were lucky not to have a guy binned, with all the penalties they were giving away at the breakdown.

Oh, and Valentine was average. Gits was good.

Valentine seems to be only capable of playing 30-40 mins...

He actually looks pretty good in the first half of a match... And then in the second half he stops showing up yo the breakdown, slowing down attack ball, throwing wild passes...

He just shouldn't come back out after half time...

That's two weeks in a row that a Kiwi scrum has gone to custard and been reamed by an Aussie scrum. Have I been translated into some weird parallel universe? Even Maafu went well. Palmer has to be in the world cup squad along with Fat Cat, Kepu and Slipper. Alexander tonight put up his hand for inclusion as a LHP, but I want to see him up against a good THP like Owen Franks before he is back in favour.

Palmer is a must for the Wobs.

He hasn't been outscrummed all year.

I enjoyed watching the replays of him splintering the canes front row...

He does have to improve his workrate but that's something that can be improved.

For me Valentine is a lot like burgo. Great at most things but shithouse at getting the ball quickly and smoothly to the backline. The brumbies and tahs both struggle to attack when the backline is on the backfoot with ball in hand. Australia is desperate for a good halfback.

Genia is his name. Phipps is good as well. Burgess is a good running half back but his passing is awful as you mention.

I don't think his pass is the big issue with Burgess, it is the disconnect between brain and body at times. The poor pass mantra gets repeated so often it becomes accepted wisdom, but I don't recall that being the thing that has annoyed me about him this year (when he has). The best passing halfback I saw all weekend was Giteau, when he got in there a few times for the Brumbies. Very crisp and accurate service each time.

IMO there is no problem at all with Burgess, either his passing of decision making. When he is playing well. His problem lies in consistancy. When Genia runs out you know what you are going to get, generally, solid passing, solid defence and solid decision making all executed with precision.

With Burgess you get World Class half back defence, World Class running and sniping from ruck and scrum, and then it is hit and miss game to game, last night we saw the international quality Burgess, a few weeks ago we saw the second grade Burgess who couldn't hit the side of a barn with his passing and his kicking was as poor as you will see at any level.

It is the biggest disappointment, that he has not improved this aspect.

To compare Valentine to Sheehan is an insult.....to Sheehan.

Considering how many wraps Burgess gets for his defence, Sheehan deserves some too. He defends around the ruck like a proxy back rower.

Giteau was good last night, but this bullshit of wearing the number 10 then playing 12 is............ I don't really know what it is. If the intent is to confuse people, I suppose it is quite effective. I thought both Leillefano and Tomooa were good taking the ball back through traffic.

Andrew Hore will be very lucky to wear an AB jumper again on his current form, Same probably goes for Nonu, and the Brums front row deserves credit for dishing up an AB front row.

I don't like the twoplaymaker system, I detest the Tripod system. How many times did the Mules have good ball last night and nobody knew what to do with it. How much of Valentines hesitation comes from wondering which flyhalf to pass it to?

I was thinking last night, that a system like that could only be conceived and implemented if the workers party was in control. Pity the Reds are already called "the Reds", it would make a fine new nickname for the 2011 Brumbies.

It's like in 7's when you take your favourite number, despite playing in a position not related to the number on your back.

I'm wondering if the tri-half system is making it more difficult for the outside backs - from my vantage point at the game it seemed like the Brumbies backline didn't run a single move. No deception, just hands along the line. Is it to confusing for them to call some simple plays, not knowing who is stepping into flyhalf at any time?

The Brumbies backs have looked crap all season, the strange thing is that with Larkham back I expected more structure (there was plenty in Larkham/Gregan) world) but they still seem to have the plan of chuck out and run one out.

No angles, no deception, just hope of winning a one on one

Add 15 to the mix and it has been very effective at confusing everyone at the Brumbies from Brumby Jack to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). Mind you, the bonus points are flowing this year!
