Maybe that's why he only signed a one year deal as coach, he'll be the starting Wallaby flyhalf after that

Well, that surprises me, Robbie being the Prince of Queanbeyan and all, but I think it's a good move by the Brumbies. Hope it is for Robbie too, but I would have thought 7s might have been a better option.

10 and 15 a bit up the air atm. Jooste just might be the first pick for both, depending on how Toua shapes up in 2017. Personally, I'd also like to see Dargaville have a go at 15.

Any chance of Sanchez joining Cubelli, or would Actors Equity put a stop on that?;)

Said it before, and again will say I would like to see someone like Garden-Bachop come in at 10.

After reading that article on Coleman earlier in the year this doesn't come as a massive surprise, he reads as one of those players at that point in his career who needs a change of environment to invigorate his game. Hopefully does him the world of good, he displayed some real potential a few years ago.

I think Dragaville would be an outstanding fullback.

With you Garden-Bachop; then Issac Thompson or Horan for the last spot

The search is on. I figure the Australia part is a red herring, the Japan part is for Barnes & Super Rugby left overs and maybe the NZ part is Garden-Bachop!

ACT Brumbies search world to replace Christian Lealiifano, Matt To'omua, Robbie Coleman

PS: I think this is a bit like the Balleymore car park search but just a tiny bit bigger. World search = Australia, Japan and NZo_O

There's a lot of decent blokes in NZ who just need a real go.

The Brumbies could have a look at:
- Hayden Parker
- Simon Hickey
- Marty Banks

All are really solid players. Could all start in mid table Super Rugby teams while young blokes around them develop.

Sadly, this is the likely reality for the Brumbies.

Not likely - it is the reality, and yes sadly due to Lilo's illness.

All the players you mention are contracted. Not quite mid table teams they play for

Are you sure they're all contracted? Hayden Parker in particular is in Japan and IDK if NZ allow duel contracts to be signed at the same time (meaning he will play super, but is likely not yet contracted to do so).

Banks is in Italy, this is true. Still, contracts aren't hard to break.

A topic that I don't think has been brought up yet (surprisingly)..............

Who will captain the Brumbies in 2017?

Moore gone........

Pocock on sabbatical.........

Lilo ill.........

There'll be a big drop off in experience with To'omua and Tomane also departing...........

Butler might be the front runner as Vikings skipper, but beyond 2017 I don't know if he would be a guaranteed starter when Pocock returns.........

Fardy likes to get chatty with the refs?

Fardy is a really good choice (and personally my first choice). He is the only player who is not the captain but can have the ear of the ref - even at Wallaby level. Actually, I have gut feeling his absence correlates with the Wallabies (Moore).

Beyond Fardy I would be thinking giving Benny A a shot but Butler seems to be the more logical choice.

I don't really like the idea of props as skippers as they usually play the least amount of minutes...........

Also, I don't think Benny A will be a guaranteed starter next year.

Yeah, the Benny A was more of a nice thing to do to add some experience - but it would have to be a shared thing.

It might sound strange but even Fardy and Butler might end up with limited minutes with the way the Tominator play @6 in the NRC and if Alcock is the goods at 7 which leave a lot of options @8 and some could be better than Butler.

I think we will end up with co-captains again.

Brumbies going through rebuilding phase - with one of the weakest rosters they have had for a long time. Can't see finals this year for brumbies but hopefully few young blokes step up.

When you're rebuilding all you have to do is have a couple of young blokes stand out and play attractive footy. Then, everyone is smiling.

It is, or should be, a pressure off year for the Brumbies is 2017.

Depending on the next signing which I really hope is young blood, the roster you refer to as one of the weakest is one I feel more optimistic about based on what I have seen of the players - an improvement over the stronger "on paper" team we had last year.
