Yes my thoughts - joost not ready for start at 10 imo but not sure of any other class options at this point for backup.

Lost some big name players with journey man and / or untested players as replacements. They don't seem to have been as prominent in recruitment ranKs compared to say reds and force

The Jootse, 10 and back-line in general was discussed pretty heavily a few pages back.

Obviously, and preferably the plan was to have him as back up pre-Lilo. He has shown good signs playing for UC Vikings and we can only hope he will be like Mo'unga in his first year. There still maybe a signing as extra cover at 10 or worst case i can see Godwin @10 - he has played 10 in the past.

Names don't make a team players do. IMHO its why we are behind the Kiwis. While they being in new players with new and differing skill and talents, we are obsessed with names and if they are proven and are already pre-judging.

Anyone that has watched the NRC has clearly seen the rhetoric about lack of depth and talent in Australia is ridiculous! Its the lack of opportunity is the issue and moving on some of the "names".

I think concerns about brumbies roster are valid as equally not seeing depth or the exciting new talent coming in. Depth at 10 obviously a concern as is 8 as lolo had some injuries and bit risky as opposed to Choosing some new and in form players

Good news on the sponsor front - pre-election as well, but we will have to wait and see about 2018 after the election.

Also more from AQUIS!

Aquis has also signed on to increase its commitment to community and grassroots programs, including the women's sevens.

Brumbies are bloody lucky to have such good tolerant and generous sponsor.

Considering the political landscape of the ACT it's going to be a very long time before the Canberra Liberals get back into power...........

Nope, still Wallabies backs coach.....

The speculation is whether he goes full time with the Wallabies at the end of the Super Rugby season next year, or sticks with the Brumbies for longer....

If there's no signs of improvement with his coaching, I will be happy for him to join the Wallabies full-time.

(and also @ Brumby Runner) given the result I have to ask exactly what has Larkham done to warrant a place as backs coach at Wallaby level? A poorly performed Brumbies attack with Lilo and To'omua as halves? It has always struck me as reminiscent of the selection of Martin Johnson as a national coach with no real successful experience at lower levels.

I had genuinely hoped that he would drop back to Super Level and prove his methods and improve his skills at that level before stepping back up and truly earning his heir apparent mantel.

ATM pretty much SFA. I am not defending Bernie in his position as Wallabies' attack coach. Just pointing out that that is his position for 2017 along with the head coach spot at the Brumbies. And it seems to be that it is at Cheika's behest.

One issue I will raise though. 2016 was a terrible year off the field for the Brumbies. So long as matters are sorted before 2017 gets underway, there is every chance that the coaching and game plan will improve from this tear's base.

Never quite got why the big 360 degree turn on Bernie from one of the rising young coaching gun many were labelling him 12 to 18 months ago to the Pariah many now paint him.

I must be naive as I think Bernie has a lot to offer as a coach - still developing - sure but maybe I am just naive as I see the cattle has to work with as much as an issue for wallaby and brumbies performance issues with injuries - retirements etc

Interestingly (or not) watching the Brumbies this year, start of the year vs the 'Canes exciting play, then we disappeared into a forward based pattern which was very reminiscent of watching the Tuggeranong Vikings play under Dan McKellar...

I think Bernie has a real focus on controlling the game and "waiting" for opportunities that gets stronger as the season goes on.

I have picked it up in his language he uses in press conference and interviews. EG: choosing the right time or moment etc

The piece that seems to be missing is the creating the opportunities and creating the moment.

Thus why I think the "loose" early season play was reined in.

I think its an unintentional byproduct of a mindset and philosophy based on the fear of losing. I think the other sign that reinforces this is the lack of ability to adapt in games when they are getting beaten and after losing the lack of change in game plan.

Glad someone has their psychology degree!

Coaching and game plan may improve but there have been some serious loss of cattle to implement.

I reckon the Brums may struggle a bit in 2017, certainly to top the Conference

I really think, and hope, that all five franchises will struggle to top the Conference, by dent of them all being of nearly equal standard and hopefully better than the Saffas and closing in on a couple of the NZ sides.
