The travel adds up quickly when you start doing a 560km round trip to Sydney for a decent coffee each morning.

30,000 km for NZ makes sense if you are going to Perth, then to South Africa, then to South America and from Chile go straight to NZ and then come by the same way

Well it would harden up the players if they did a trip to South Africa on a Saab 340, they would have to go via Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, India, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, Yemen, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique.

What are u talking about? How lower the costs of Brumbies trips?

Have seen on another site that both Moore and Fardy are hopeful of being fit for the first Super match against the Reds. That's good news if true.

Not good news about Matt Hawke. Thought he would have been a good back up in the centres in case of injury to either To'omua or Lealiifano. The stocks of No 10s are a bit thin imo and an injury to either To'omua or Christian will see the other playing at 10, potentially leaving a bit of a hole at 12.

Anyone know why? I know there were some issues with the language barrier but I was hopeful that they'd get worked out as the bloke seemed to have some legitimate talent in his role as a midfield playmaker/distributor.

There were a few fringe Brumbies in the last year or two who didn't get to see much game time, if any, including Whetton, Van der Walt, Swanepoel and the Japanese fly half mentioned above (Tatekawa). Might be a case of the Brumbies' recruitment team having difficulty recognising potential or a lack of patience to allow them to reach that potential before shipping them out. But it's probably a problem at all franchises.

Its the same very year at every S14 club, players get opportunity to develop & opportunity to play in the 22 when positions are required for development players. Others who are contracted in the 22 have to hold there positions in their roles... Its the same in all pro sports...

The more I learn about this guy outside of rugby the more I think he has a big future after his playing days are over.

Think your right on Ala'alatoa and Dowsett but the trials will tell. Haven't been keeping up with the news is Ita Vaea still at Brumbies.
Would like to see Fardy at 6 and Arnold or Staniforth at Lock pretty sure it will happen at some point in the season possibly against a SA pack

yeah I'll concede maybe Ala'alatoa but lets be honest, Powell completely outplayed Dowsett in the NRC. Staniforth is one I forgot about, and I'd have him in there over Arnold. Hope he had continued to bulk up and hit the gym hard in the off season.

I agree that Powell played better than Dowsett in the NRC and I think he has more potential. I don't think Staniforth is quite there yet. Very busy on the ground but not really very effective against the seasoned Super players. Another year or so for him to become a starter or consistently on the bench imo. Really looking forward to seeing what Arnold and Blake Enever have to offer. If one can match up, then I'd prefer to see Fardy play 6 as well. Jordan Smiler is also a bench option to cover lock or No 6.

Much the same with Alan Ala'alatoa as well. Best THP at the 20s but found it hard in the NRC. Maybe another year of learning the trade before he gets regular time on the ground. I'd expect both Smith twins to make the bench to start the season.

In the backs I'm not quite sold on Iona atm. There could be a problem at 10/12 if either Matty or Christian are injured. Maybe Nigel Ah Wong could fill in at 12 with Tauliali or the winger we signed from Sydney Uni (Dargaville) on the bench. If fit, I'd have Moggy at 15 in place of Robbie.

He didn't have a good NRC but if I'm not mistaken, he had shoulder surgery soon after. It really does look like he's been playing with injury for most of the past 12 months with his apparent timidity in contact, both defense and attack. If he's had a bad shoulder, that could be the explanation and hopefully he will come back stronger for 2015.

An inform Moggy is still the second best (although maybe most rounded) full back in Aus. He just might be a smokey for wing in the RWC with his great kicking game.
