Mogg's biggest problem in 2014 seems to be in the top two inches. He makes some absolute clangers which mostly seem to centre around lapses of concentration and then panicking under pressure rather than a lack of skill or ability.

There have been a few times where he makes an initial error and then compounds it through further mistakes rather than being able to cover it up or mitigate his losses.

His Wallaby tests were closer to 17 months ago, was he injured then too? That's not a snipe - I don't have a clue when he picked up his shoulder injury.

But he had serious issues in contact on both sides of the ball in all three of the tests from what I can recall. He sure has the toe to play wing and his kicking is longer than anyone I can think of in Aus Super Rugby (but I also recall some disastrous kicks during his time in Gold as well).

He'll really need to have a blinder of a season to be in contention, or there would have to be an abnormal amount of injuries you'd think.

He has the physical/skill attributes but he just doesn't seem to handle contact or match pressure very well and doesn't rebound at all from his own mistakes.

Moggy is first and foremost a confidence player, and it's true that if he makes a mistake he will as often as not compound it with further mistakes. He well may do so again this year, but I won't be surprised if he turns his game around if he is completely over his injury problems. It is not inconceivable that his shoulder problems might have been contributing to his lack of confidence when going into contact and causing some of those serial mistakes that he suffered from. And with his league background, I would be surprised if he couldn't handle one-on-one defense better than he showed in 2014.

All I'm saying is that if he's fit then he will beat Robbie Coleman for the Brumbies' No 15 spot, and given the paucity of kicking skills presently in our Wallabies' back three, he could be a show of taking a wing spot or a bench spot for at least some RWC games. But as always form will tell.

The back row is not as strong as it has been in recent years..............

No Kimlin.......... no Mowen.............

If true to form Fotu or Pocock probably won't play a lot of games..........

If I recall correctly Moggs first touches in Gold resulted in a clean break and a fantastic catch under pressure and in contact. Not sure where the the serious issues in contact in his tests occurred. Jesse is a risk taker he chips the defence he try's to pass under pressure and he will back himself to make a play. This has resulted in number of memorable performances notably against the Waratahs in Canberra last season when he was clearly the best fullback on the ground against a highly regarded opponent. His kicking is only rivalled at Brumbies for its distance by White and their combined ability to clear the ball from the Brumby end is a cornerstone of the Brumby gameplan
Mogg has proven in the past to be a game breaker for the Brumbies and I look forward to his return from injury and the only reason I am assuming he has been left out of the proposed game day 23 as it was premised on being the first game

Brumbies naming their vice captains tomorrow.
Not sure how many they'll go with but I'd say Pocock, Lealiifano and Auelua would be in with a shot.

Yeah Mogg wasn't selected for my best XV because he isn't up to it.

Will they have their 2015 kit sans sponsor?

I assume it'll essentially be the same as last year?

You mean this clean break? Might want to knock the cobwebs off that selective memory of yours ;)

Don't make me find the clips of him on defense against the Darkness, please. He has a lot to offer but he's still got a ton to prove if we're talking about him playing for the Wallabies at the RWC.

He may have lost the ball but notice how he made metres by running forward rather than runnings sideways like the previous player did.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Moggy return to early 2013 form, but I think it is realistic to say that at this stage Coleman has his hands on the starting #15 jersey. I thought he was outstanding in the NRC - hands down the Vikings best player wherever he played.

If Mogg gets his confidence back and starts returning to form that could change, but at the moment I reckon he can warm the bench. His pace might actually help in the last 20 or so when opposition players are tired.

Robbie's a good player and versatile, but imo his defense was really not up to scratch when playing on the wing in the NRC. I think that most wingers in the professional game are so much bigger than Robbie that he seems to have a bit of trouble taking them down one-on-one. Also seems to be a bit of a problem when he's playing 15. IMO he's a 10 or 12 these days rather than an outside back.

Was Mogg playing injured in the back end of the season? He had that tentative look
