Have to feel for Auelua, will feel sorry for the Brumbies after first week. Good depth when they will still line up 2 current wallabies plus Pocock in the backrow.

Unlucky for Fotu Auelua. I really rate him and was hoping to see him a lot more this season. Not unhappy to see him miss the Reds game though.

I thought I was a lone voice in the wilderness talking up Fotu's abilities and possible Wallabies consideration this year, but encouraging to see many now acknowledging his ability.

It really is a shame for Fotu. His shoulder injury last year saw him come back to training nearly 20kgs heavier than expected so he worked hard, and with some help from David Pocock, got back to his playing weight.

If he comes back bigger and stronger, look out.

It seems that the Brumby management has deliberately gone for a 'light' trial series unlike the Tahs and the Reds. Only one game against a super 14 team (the Highlanders) then a game against the ACT XV and finally an opposed training session.

Anyone able to shed light on the reasoning behind this tapering series of trial games?

They did the same thing last year. Seemed to work ok then :)

Brumbies won the last trial 38-7.

Only saw part of it but it was fairly scratchy game and took til the 2nd half to get going with a lot of dropped ball and turnovers gained from the ACT XV.

Has Dan Palmer played a single game this season for Grenoble? I've looked at some team sheets and he is nowhere to be found

If Palmer has a year of rehab to get his foot fixed, where better than in France? On full pay. AND it comes out of Grenoble's bank account, not the Brumbies'!

A source close to the club said the purpose of the third trial was to test new things, like moves, combinations, tactics etc away from prying eyes, especially the Reds given they are the first game. Not such a bad way to go imo.

looks like a possible new brumbies centers combo with a Smith & Kuridrani partnership... 2 big solid direct running backs should prove to be a handful...
