Well played Jake White! Nothing like your best players being available for your local comp. He has certainly made some positive noises in his short time in the capital.

Slightly off topic but there was a bit in the paper the other day suggesting lane could be in line for a wallabies job (probably as an assistant), in the coming months.

He's been there and done that - but you never know: he may go again.

Its much better for the Brumbies for their players to be playing in the local Cup. They need to commit to the district and be available for the Brumbies coaching staff to observe. No point them playing for Manly, Wicks, Rats or the Beasts etc... for a few odd bucks...

Shute shield is unbalanced anyway UNI dominate the recruiting. Without the Brumbies players they’ll dominate all the clubs in 2012… But it doesn’t matter because Australia needs a real genuine tier 2 rugby national comp anyway… perhaps in a few years will get one…

Well done Jake White... I hear he just insisted and eth players had to comply… a little like the ARUs CEO JON…

Hang on, with the extended season wouldn't the Shute players have had little to no game time at their Syd clubs anway?

Surely they wouldn't be slamming it up the Hume every weekend they weren't in the 22 otherwise, would they?

They'll regret kicking Canberra out of the Shute shield now.

No way. Same reason ACT schools were banished from the Waratah Shield for being too successful (they'd won it 17 times of the last 21 seasons), they don't like ACT winning their competitions.

It also includes extended squad out side of the 22... but most in the 22 wont play many matches...

Vikings management still harbour ambitions of getting back into the competition (or did in recent years). However they do live on a different planet to the rest of us in the ACT, the rest of us are quite happy with the JID.

Vikings are the only club that could really compete, consistantly. Royals of 2009 were immense, as were Queanbeyan and the Vikings, and that year they could have competed with most of the Sydney clubs.

This year.....most would have been destroyed. Most games.

I thought it was terrific to have the Vikings in the Sydney comp, both times, because it was a strong team.

The unwritten reason why they didn't want them the second time is because they didn't want to give the Brumbies a leg up.

a little credit should go to Andy Friend for this local comp move. He tired to address the issue and really got the ball rolling.

it will make a big i-Dent in the Shute Shield... this it takes a lot of players out of many Sydney clubs... but will offer many Sydney players the opportunity to be seen at shield level... Other ACT players and country p[layers will opt to play in camberra to be seen by teh Brumbies staff as they know they will be watching the local comp more closely...
