There is talk about it being personal issues, there has been a fair bit of speculation about his relationships in the press recently. Nothing that would necessarily impact his ability to do his job or impugn his character, but stuff that still may have led to him making the decision to go. Apparently he emailed staff on Friday afternoon, so I guess they had to make the announcement today. There's definitely a lot more to come, but he's a guy that might normally be out of Rugby's league, as it stands right now they'd be crazy not to at least talk to him.

One of the front runners identified to replace him is Mike Sneesby, current CEO of Stan, who was pivotal in the rugby union broadcast deal and had this to say last week:

All jokes aside, top level coaches are used extensively in NFL coverage. Many commentators have to make a decision between that and coaching. Watching the breakdown throughout the year and the SKY coverage after the test on Saturday it was good to see Tabai Matson giving more indepth analysis.

More than the coaches, what we could use are the rugby analysts - generally the more tech guys advising the coach. Those blokes would be good in commentary.

Marto was really good on the call last Saturday, I thought. We never hear him any more. Thanks to the dross Gregan and Kearns dish up I was really glad to have him. What has the world become?!?!?!
