The worst part of this new TV deal is that I have to cancel my foxtel, which means a 2 hour phone call.
If you get out of it in 2 hours you're doing well. Took me 4 hours earlier in the year.

Pretty believable.Yes - I just can't believe the approach that NewsCorp has taken throughout this - it must have really emphasised to RA that News is a dangerous partner to have.

Nine outbid the Foxtel/Ten bid, not by cash but by propping up their cash component with significant contra support in advertising and promotion via their media assets and mastheads.
That Halloran article boggles the mind. The notion that by not re-signing with Fox we missed our opportunity to 'reset' is a brain-twisting logical leap. I know she has to sing from the company hymn sheet but man that's just so out of touch with where the rugby public are right now.
This forum is not necessarily a representative sample, but does anyone, anywhere think Fox was doing a good job? Nobody I talk to thinks so. The commentary is generally the lightning rod, but the whole package was stale.
No major paper can really report that given their allegiances one way or another. But I can't remember an announcement being so widely supported by local rugby fans.
Apologies if I've missed it, but NRC model is gone? I haven't seen anything written about it for this broadcast deal and they obviously didn't pick squad this year.
Nah. They don't own it.I think the NRC brand itself was tied in with Fox Sports.
Define "club".I think we will see an evolution of a club championship before we see another NRC equivalent
There are enough pieces still around to open a new front.
You want this to start again. I say bring it on.
Does that make sense?
Need to also consider the quality of the volume. 3:00am games in Africa don’t contribute the same as domestic derbies which remain maxed in 2021 as they were in 2020.
Without trying to hijack this thread - I think it's important for top tier club players to play alongside others of that standard.
I love club rugby and my club, but I don't know if expanding on what is already a well supported product for more of the same but across states is the answer in terms of player development.
The NRC successfully took guys like Wilson and Daugunnu from good club players, to good Super players, to the Wallabies, in a rather short space of time. I don't know if they would have been given the same opportunities had they not showcased their wares in the NRC and then were given Super starting roles to really flourish.
The fact that 9 took SS and QPR in their package tells me they will showcase them as their own products and rightfully so, with hopefully another level inbetween.
