Sort of can - they're very much lost in their own echo chamber at the moment. Look at things like Sky News Australia. Paltry viewing numbers, but they trot out the same shouty anti-science bullshit every week and are happy in their warm little pile of shit.
This is cultural and runs through the whole engine. Foxtel refused to put up anything like a decent streaming platform when it was clear the wind was blowing that way. They're becoming the Kodak of televised entertainment.

Well I jumped into Stan today on my fetch box, and the first thing I saw is a massive Rugby advertisement that when you selected took you to 9new video of the announcement and with a bunch of detail. They have already started pushing it to there subscribers. Good Signs I say.

Im not sure I believe this statement (that Foxtels cash component was higher in the latest bid). I've seen it reported elsewhere as $25m pa.
Either way Halloran must lose a little bit of her soul everytime she writes a News op-ed s**tcanning rugby and dresses it up as journalism.

I did like their 2 tier club championship proposal.
I would have loved to have seen Fox with the Club rights and see some real promotion and money put in at this level.
As far as I can see we are in a better place for Wallabies (because 9 is way better than 10, otherwise we are at the same exposure) - we are way way better for Super, as we are finally getting 1 match of the round on FTA. We are worse off at Club - losing a regular match of the round on FTA each week. But the coverage we get for club on STan hopefully is way superior , we will have to wait and see what we get at this level.
Overall we are better off by a fair amount

Apologies if I've missed it, but NRC model is gone? I haven't seen anything written about it for this broadcast deal and they obviously didn't pick squad this year.

I believe it has been mentioned on twitter but not sure whether that means it will happen in 2021.
Really we aren't sure of a lot of things due to COVID so hopefully it is on, later in the year.

Yep, whether or not it is still the same old NRC I don't really mind, but we need that bridging level between Super and Club.
I think the NRC brand itself was tied in with Fox Sports so 9 may which to go another direction.

Without trying to hijack this thread - I think it's important for top tier club players to play alongside others of that standard.
I love club rugby and my club, but I don't know if expanding on what is already a well supported product for more of the same but across states is the answer in terms of player development.
The NRC successfully took guys like Wilson and Daugunnu from good club players, to good Super players, to the Wallabies, in a rather short space of time. I don't know if they would have been given the same opportunities had they not showcased their wares in the NRC and then were given Super starting roles to really flourish.
The fact that 9 took SS and QPR in their package tells me they will showcase them as their own products and rightfully so, with hopefully another level inbetween.

No thanks - lets just be radical and be united on all things rugby - east and west coast etc....Force part of the equation and I am sure there is positive dialogue going on between the parties as Hamish appears to understand how important Force are inside and not outside the tent.
the other factor here is the volume of content. In 2019, the Super Rugby season had 106 games.
Super Rugby AU had 22. Let's say they double that next year and then add the cross country finals with NZL.
They'll be lucky to hit 60 Super Rugby games.
So from the broadest of extrapolations:
2019 - $55M / 106 games = RA received approx $520k per Super Rugby game
2021 - $33M / 60 games = RA receives approx $550k per Super Rugby game.
And that's still without the international broadcast deal.
Obviously there are Wallaby games in there too, but as they are most likely like for like, we can rule them out.
Does that make sense?

Need to also consider the quality of the volume. 3:00am games in Africa don’t contribute the same as domestic derbies which remain maxed in 2021 as they were in 2020.

True. But on the other hand, games played in SA still made money in SA (of which RA may have got 4/16ths ? = 25%)
Those games are useless from a local ratings point of view here but (at least at one time in the past) probably generated good dollars. With SA out of Soup, they'd still generate dollars but perhaps with some drop off.
Either way, still a better prospect overall. The old format was irretrievably broken.

Hope you are right, but I really doubt that is on their radar.
So little detail has been given about SS level, (and zero about NRC) that I think little thought has gone into it.
I am sure Nine would have demanded the Club rights be included (remember Raelene's model was for splitting up the offerings and Fox definitely wanted SS) - I am sure this was a blocking move to stop Fox competing with another product - has nothing to do with Nine wanting to foster and grow club rugby.
