Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It is piss poor for Stan to be giving details of an earlier test at half time for the Wallabies.
They did it at the start as well... I've tweeted Stan multiple times, I got a response but still they are fucked !!!!!

You get in this scenario you are the outlier/minority and catering for your demands detracts from the product for the majority. It just seems a bit precious to call a broadcaster fucked because they discuss the results of a match which occurred earlier that day.

Reporting scores of earlier games happens in NRL/AFL as well; Kayo/Stan/Nine/Seven are catering to the majority audience who already know the score because they watched it sequentially, or they don't intend to watch the game but find the analysis informative anyway, in which case discussing the results and impact of those results is value add content for the majority of viewers.

They would have some basis for this? If so the response to Tomikin seems pretty simple.

I don't think it would be too hard to tell viewers that they are about to discuss another game for a few minutes so those who don't want to know the result can mute for a few minutes or have a quick break. This way they can still discuss the result without upsetting some viewers.

Fair.. so lets do away with the rules here as well, and just talk about any results in all threads... .and it wasn't a demand it was can they please stop showing the score of other games, put a warning do something.

And I won't take what you said as that I'm in the minority, as there are plenty of people in these threads saying the same thing.

Yep I had that too. Then it would jump back 2 secs in time and repeat what just happened.

Was happening during the AB game too.
I also had a double exposure effect when Allan Ala'alatoa was approaching the ref after the all-in melee. He was standing still where the ref indicated him to stop and an image was still walking towards the ref at the same time.

this forum isn’t a broadcaster trying to value add for their viewers, it’s silly to compare the two.

Do you really think you’re in the majority? A few people in match threads don’t make a majority, this forum alone represents a minority of rugby fans who care enough to talk online.

You said you want them to stop reporting scores and discussing other games, putting a warning I could agree with, but still think it’s a bit much to tell them they’re fucked if they don’t.

Analysing and discussing other results, and the impact of those results on the tournament is a value-add content that a lot of viewers like. Probably why they do it

Interesting, that is the primary markets but which channel was the NRL match played outside of Brisbane and Sydney then?
Hardly get any NRL down here when it’s not the storm. Thursday and Friday games are on Gem outside of that it’s Kayo

I think it’s important to note last night was on GEM and not Nines primary channel. Disappointing result regardless

Do you think it would perform better if Nine rebranded from GEM or made another channel called 9Sport? Use it as the dedicated channel for all of their sports, aside from the flagship games (pretty much friday night NRL).

StanSport has a decent catalogue these days, I am sure they'd have enough content to run replays of recent games of rugby, tennis etc. and create some review shows.

Yesterday I caught the end of Offsiders and saw it was a 1-hour special. So I watched it back on iView to get a rough breakdown of how ABCTV is covering sport. Guests with Kelli Underwood were Caroline Wilson, Paul Kennedy, and every rugby fan's favourite: Roy Masters :)

* First 18 minutes of content was on AFL finals. And they were all crackers - some would argue the best week of finals the AFL has had this century. For a product that is excellent to watch live, it was also promoted correctly on TV and is given every chance by the owners to make it prominent.
* Next 5 minutes was AFLW.
* Another 11ish minutes on the US Open - most of which was Serena Williams' exit.
* Matildas soccer 3 minutes.
* Wallabies 3 minutes - generally game talking points about Bok dominance but also the overly technical nature and the lack of flow with TMO jumping in.
* ODI Cricket for 3 minutes.

Each guest got a final thoughts piece, and Masters had to give a comment about rugby being softer than loig but what's new?

The prominent one for me was the off season goings-on at Essendon where the new coach is clearing house. That will keep the papers going for a couple of months in AFL states, particularly as draft kicks off.

This shows where we are at; basically covered in the back end as a national sport because that is the level of interest we rate. Worth noting the presenters weren't writing us off, but that the game has issues.
