Paul Cully pushing for Japan and Fiji inclusion in TRC, and for the series to play in Feb-Mar.
I'm not against either concept to be honest.
Try (new) nations: My radical plan to fix southern hemisphere rugby
The Rugby Championship isn’t working. A southern version of the Six Nations could save it - and keep South Africa involved as they continue to eye Europe’s riches.www.smh.com.au
Not sure about the calendar switch but Fiji + Japan should already be involved.Paul Cully pushing for Japan and Fiji inclusion in TRC, and for the series to play in Feb-Mar.

How do we reckon the Aus Rugby calendar looks if TRC in Feb/March?
Jan - pre-season for Super Rugby sides + Wallabies.
Feb/FH Mar - The Rugby Championship
LH Mar - Jun - Super Rugby AU.
July - Intls in SH (preferably 3 test series format)
August/Sept - Super Rugby 'Champions League" style crossover with NZ/Japan
November - Spring Tour.
Pretty jam packed calendar, not much time off for the top tier players.
If TRC swaps to Feb-Mar, then it means the July test matches could be combined with the November test series, which is what NH have pushed for in the past anyways. SH Club Rugby then has a clear unbroken window Apr-Aug (this could be any variety of Super Rugby or 'Champions League' matches), and NH-SH tours could be combined and finished by mid-nov with a longer off-season for the SH, and a clear window for NH club rugby Nov-Feb.How do we reckon the Aus Rugby calendar looks if TRC in Feb/March?

Why have inbound tests in July if the TRC shifts?Feb-Aug: players are either with wallabies or playing club rugby (still have inbound tests in July) Aug-Nov: Super Rugby December: Spring Tour
would mean that NH have effectively the 3 test windows running through their club seasons. SH (previously July now Oct) NH spring (Nov) and 6 Nations (Feb March). be interesting to see if they were happy with that. Why have inbound tests in July if the TRC shifts?
NH don’t like them and it disrupts the SH club season, merge July Tests and Spring Tour and make it one single test window.

My thought was about trying to ensure that you don't start Super Rugby until Club Rugby has finished, allowing contracted players to complete a full season of Club Rugby commitments if they've not been selected for the Wallabies. Why have inbound tests in July if the TRC shifts?

Professionals shouldnt be playing amateur sport, period. My thought was about trying to ensure that you don't start Super Rugby until Club Rugby has finished, allowing contracted players to complete a full season of Club Rugby commitments if they've not been selected for the Wallabies.
Lot to be said for it , I like the idea of one round etc. Not sure it will work overly well for Fiji as a lot of their players get extra money because they play during 6Ns when the other teams are required for that comp, and may just get players being unavailabe. But still a lot to like in the ideas.Paul Cully pushing for Japan and Fiji inclusion in TRC, and for the series to play in Feb-Mar.

Sorry how? The Six Nations isn’t at the start of the their season? Not all that much different to what NH based players have to deal with.

True but they also have much larger squad sizes in their club games so whilst they play more matches, the players get more rests (bye weeks) than our players do.I was referring to length of the season and rest periods.
