Isn't the TSS first five a self declared kiwi though?.. They are wrecking the school comp right now so they must have plenty of talent.

Yep he is, and a pretty handy player, but by christ TSS are are a complete team, they are seriously well coached, and you know what they do really well, keep the ball alive by passing to players who are working themselves into space. I reckon the coach should be getting talked to by QRU as well as some of the players!

So the encouraging signs you see in school boy rugby is actually just another kiwi? lolwot

Haven't read all the post-match chat as I've been busy digging up my back yard so apologies if some or all of the following has already been mentioned:

Can we please just have 14. Bender & whoever's fit at 11 & 15? Dunno why but two strike wingers has never worked for us, one strike winger plus a fullback & a 14/15 has been working very nicely since ~2009. It ain't broke so don't try to fix it!

Jack Goodhue is the guy we hoped Fekitoa would be i.e. a multiple-RWC starting 13, barring injury of course. Laumape needs to work on his communication skills some more. AL-B is the new Nonu: average-to-goodish Super Rugby, axe muderer Test player.

Beaugan is a dead-set freak of nature so Richie, start working on that highlights DVD & enjoy the game time you get against the minor league teams 'cos that's your lot, my good man. Also, consider moving from the Village of the Damned to either of the sunshine capitals of NZ (Nelson & Blenheim). You know it makes sense.

Michael Hooper may be a fantastic player but he has no clue about the captaincy thing esp where refs are concerned. Demanding a YC the first time the opposition infringes inside their 22 will pretty much get you dismissed every time. You're in danger of becoming Stephen Moore v2.0 & not in a good way.

WTF was up with TGC? Several times the cameras cut to him in the box but there was nary an arm flail, no "Oh FFS" that I could discern & I'm pretty sure he'd had a shave at some point this week! I know a week in Auckland can do weird shit to people but this was Invasion of the Body Snatchers weird.

Very, very, VERY pleased to see AB go into CruSadist tractor mode, if only briefly. Hoping to see much, much more of this v Argies & Saffas next month (plus obviously Paddys & Poms in November).

Playing no mistake rugby is what got Deans sacked

And losing... a lot. I think that had something to do with it as well.
Plus you usually have to score some tries to win.
Opposite ends of the spectrum.
Middle ground would do me just fine.

Don't worry about all that "6 feet under" crap.

The plague's over baby!

4 feet will suffice.

There are many reasons why a skinny white boy from the 'nua might choose to dig up his back yard. He might, for example, in a moment of madness have declared that it would be a piece of piss to excavate, by hand, ~30 m2 of compacted clay, being the original fill from when they terraced the section in 1970, in order to replace it with sand, topsoil (all of which has to be barrowed in) & ready lawn. So far the input v output ledger is 18 hours hard yakka for 12m2 of prep. I'm going back to work for a rest :)

We're currently ranked 5th, with a significant gap between us and 4th. SAF are 6th and their loss to Argentina has helped us stay 5th.

On current form hard to see us beating Ireland or England.

The problem is that our 'current form' at this time of year always includes 2 games against the All Blacks. Immediately prior to that we were a dodgy refereeing decision away from a series win over the#2 ranked side, one of the teams you say we we can't beat. Does Argentina beating the Boks last night not constitute their current form?

The thing is there were more games that were closely lost. The challenge with the Cheika approach is that there is more chance of winning having a go, but as we have seen, more chance of losing badly.

I not sure if Chuckles approach is the correct one, but I certainly can't think of any Coaches available to replace him, same with players, basically I think it best there is in Aus,(there maybe 1 or 2 that could be changed) and they certainly trying there best. I know it seems like there not much light at end of the tunnel, but I think NZ rugby happens to be going through a real purple patch at the moment, and eventually the gap will close. I not absolutely sure that Wallabies will regain a place in top 2 in World rankings for a while, as I believe the NH teams have improved an awful lot, but the only way Aus rugby will improve is I think over a fairly long time approach, and that involves everyone getting behind them, and not just trying to rip them to pieces. I know that is probably not a lot to look forward to for people that not rusted on Wallaby fans, but the reality is they the one who take real pride in team that improves and does well. Nothing that can be done for fly by nighters that just follow teams that win (because we got plenty so called AB fans that are the same).

Yep, agree R3. It is probably true that we can't afford to get rid of Cheika despite the reports of his apparent ultimatum from RA. But Grey must be another kettle of fish. The defensive structures are the parts that are failing and have been ever since Grey became involved. There must be a proven defensive coach available who together with a few strategic changes to playing personnel could make some urgently needed improvements in fairly short time. If Cheika allows him, of course. Just don't know how much independence the assistants have under TGC.

Surely it’s not a matter of MC saying to Grey “throw me out a defensive strategy and we will go with whatever it is”.
Cheika must also be deeply invested in the defensive structure.
I’m not defending Grey and he should never have been offered a full time gig after his record at the Tahs and for the Wallabies.
If I have any criticism of Cheika it is that he is very reluctant to change direction with both coaching structure and personnel, even if they are not producing positive outcomes.
Bare in mind that this is a very good AB side. The remainder of the RC games will be better indicators of where the Wallabies are, including those played by the darkness.

The ABs are actually a pretty dirty side and have been for along time. They have three offenders in the starting side in Owen Franks (eye gouger), Same Cane and Joe Moody. I would actually like to say to Cane - maybe you know slightly how a French winger feels scumbag.

Da fuck? A bloke who's been eye-gouged will have the marks to prove it (RMcCaw, 2011 RWC Final for example). Douglas had none. A bloke who's been eye-gouged won't generally state post-match that no he wasn't. But, yeah, OK, whatever suits your bullshit narrative.

FTR & as I believe I said at the time, if Franks HAD gouged Douglas I'd have wanted him banned for the maximum number of weeks & NZR to rip his contract up.

The defensive strategy breaks down often due to the attacking strategy.

Why has Rod Kafer the messiah of Australian Rugby coaching and co-ordination not been called to account for what he is doing or lack there of by this forum?

Actually what exactly is his job and does he have any KPI's set by the Australian Rugby Union?

Hold your horses. He's been in the role for just over 12 months, he hasn't even fully implemented his coaching curriculum (I think the plan is it'll all be running by 2020).

I think the role is more around coach development and systems then making the current Wallaby coach better directly. It's about having a better Wallaby coach in 5 or 10 years.

I think the real issue is the Wallabies have selected their ideal attacking backline, and then everyone has to do a million and one different things on defence to try to cover for the mismatches that produces.

Hard to argue with it though, I can't see any widespread changes the Wallabies could make there other than some position swaps and maybe some different outside backs.
