Bledisloe #1 New Zealand vs Australia, August 7 2021

Next week is predictable. We will be bold again but we can’t win when there are 4 kiwis adjudicating. Fair enough for this game as it all happened pretty quickly, but hopefully they had the foresight to fly some tier 1 officials in before the lockdown.

Sorry Rassie, there will be no other refs flown in, next weeks test wasn't even known about until Monday, so quite how you think they were going to fly in refs from SA or whereever and quarantine them for 14 days is beyond me.

Ikitau has potential but I’m with you on this, push Paisami out one and start To'omua. I’m sceptical about off the bench appearances in general but we need some experience around Noah and this is the best solution.

That’s tough on Ikitau - I though he did alright tonight.
The weakness in the backs were Noah and unfortunately petaia.
Although I don’t think Petaia did much wrong - he was just invisible.
Other then koro for petaia I doubt there will be any changes.

Yeah the backup is a problem. My initial comment about QC (Quade Cooper) was tongue in cheek. I would bring JOC (James O'Connor) in as soon as he’s fit.
I guess we need to stick with Noah until then.
To be fair his kicking has been outstanding this year and tonight was a windy aberration.
But I’m not convinced he’s the future at 10.
I can see that. I think we haven’t developed any 10s for years, then the old guys retire or go overseas (or get pushed to the Brisbane club comp) and we have a bunch of promising rookies to choose from. On the plus side, we have a few good young 10s coming through at Super Rugby level who will all be pushing for a gold jersey come the next World Cup.

The missed kick is a bit of a furphy I think, we all know game chnges when someone get's kicks etc, as game then restarts at halfway etc etec. And unfair on Noah.

Not so much missed conversions which woulda done it in theory. But yeah, Eden Park factor - wouldn't hold it against him.

Even accounting for the weather I think better sides would have been salivating to play all blacks in that game as I did not find them anywhere near standard seen South Africa in two lions tests of
All blacks of old near there best.

I just accept where we are oz sides wise. Oz rugby needs to rebuild having recently hit rock bottom and will take time so not hugely disappointed with results / performance tonight with that expectation but average sports fan won’t be so forgiving as me. Hope all blacks don’t click next week as could get ugly if they do.

Yep Noah a weak link and forgot petai playing as was completely invisible. Koriobete definite starter replacing petai. Noah also had very poor day kicking wise which if had his kicking boots on could have got an unlikely win against a sub par all blacks

At the risk of going half-Rodha on you mofos, Aus were fairly shambolic for the first 60.

First 30, both sides were cancelling each other out in their dreary discombobulation. Seemed like it took Moungas break for the 2 Girls 1 Cup no-try for AB's to realise "oh thats right, we have that whole counter-attack thing in the toolbox"

DMAC was a bit mental but at least he can score tries Jordie can only dream about.

Genius AB coach will probably start Jordie on the wing next week

I wasn’t being tough on Ikitau, we need some experience in the backline and that is the most sensible solution. The other alternative is Hodge at 10. Worked last time out, Noah is the casualty though.

No win but we played much better than I expected. Noah was off tonight but no need to ditch him next game. 10. Lolesio 12 To'omua 13 Paisami. Koroibete back in too. Kellaway was brilliant. Petaia wasn’t bad, he just didn’t get any ball. Wilson was off but he’ll turn it up next week. Swain was green and will keep getting better. All forwards, including bench put their hearts into it tonight. Top effort lads.

Losing coach - " Well done boys lots of positives coming out of that game we''l build on that they'll be worried about our ability to come back we had their measure at the tail end of the game."

Winning coach - "We won. Next time don't take your foot off their neck."

well I’m already loading up on the ABs on Betfair then. Why weren’t there overseas officials already in the country for tonight’s game? I doubt they planned to use only Aus/NZ ones, in which case there are already some in quarantine.

We are missing JOC (James O'Connor)

Yeh and lucky all blacks not at their best and did not take advantage of

Yep we were lucky when our lineout in particular was going to shite that all blacks in first half we’re also pretty average (for their number one status). This was not a game I really enjoyed as a spectacle.

We outscored them 4 tries to 3. Poor kicking in the wind, a few questionable1st half penalties, and an intercept.
Why make changes just in the name of experience?
Pick the team based on form and performance - not caps.

You shouldn't risk going full Rodha mate - you'll wake up with Robbie Deans in your bed.
