I dont think this is likely to be anything other than bad news, as much as I hope it's not

I hope its not either. Berrick, to me, is one of those players made for Test Rugby. Super Rugby he does fine, but his structured play really shines in the Gold Jersey. I'd be sorry to see him go, if that is what he is announcing. To few an opportunity in his short career.

Yeah, almost certainly going to be an Elton Flatley type retirement. Pity, for many reasons. He's a great rugby player and will be missed. The fact that he wasn't scared to put his head down and smash other people in tackles may well have contributed to his demise.

However, I don't grudge him his decision. Rugby is just a game after all, and you only get one brain and one life. Good luck mate.

Confirmed - in their statement the Wallabies and Barnes have confirmed he is taking an indefinite break from rugby following his series of head knocks.

Edit: Just beat me to it BJ!

That's pretty terrible news, but absolutely understandable under the circumstances. Better to live a long and happy life without the after effects of multiple concussions than continue to play and have it affect your health in a long term bad way.

I think he's a great footballer and by all accounts a good bloke too. Get well soon Berrick.

He's a class act on and off the field.
I'm glad he's made this decison and hopefully we see the best come out of him in the years to come.

When I saw him after the game on Saturday, he was very frustrated and upset.

He's done what is best for him and I applaud him for that.
Get well soon mate.

so he should, no-one wants to see someone suffer long term medical issues. He is all class and in the end, if it is best for him, then it is best for Australian rugby.

Sad news for him and all Wallaby supporters.
Hope you can get yourself right and come back in the near future BB.
It has been a pleasure watching you play the game.
